A Being Human Community
Syfy (ended 2014)

Syfy's Being Human has enjoyed three-and-a-half seasons of haunting, transforming, and biting, and when the currently airing fourth season wraps up, so will the show. Syfy announced the show's cancellation today, with six episodes left in the series' run. Being Human's series finale will air Monday, April 7.

Being Human was adapted from the British series of the same name and follows a trio of friends and roommates named Aidan, Sally, and Josh, who just so happen to be a vampire, a ghost, and a werewolf. Though the original British version ran for five seasons before it was canceled in 2013, the North American version will actually air more episodes total; when Syfy's Being Human concludes later this spring, it will have 52 episodes to its name, in contrast to 37 for its source material.

Apparently the news has been known behind the scenes for some time now, because Syfy was able to release the below video from the cast thanking the fans. Hopefully that means the producers had enough notice to craft a fitting series finale.

Being Human was fantastic when it was good, but I didn't stick around through Season 3. I'll still miss the show and its sexy cast, but I think I'll time-traveling Aidan's facial hair the most.

Ok everyone lets clear something up. SYFY never cancelled this show. The person that wrote this article had wrong facts. The cast and crew of Being Human decided to end the show and SYFY was trying to gt them stay for a 5th season. So none of this falls on SYFY

I love Being Human! I wish it could run longer.
I love vampire and werewolf shows, to have a ghost in it was a real treat.
Watching the complications of these beings and the struggles they faced was extraordinary!
If only their was more...
Such a well done show with an incredibly talented cast!

So depressed...this has got to be one of the best shows on tv in along time. Great actors and story. It's so sad to think I won't see Aiden, Josh, Nora or Sally on Mondays anymore. I think someone would be genius to keep these characters together and keep this going! This show could go so much further...please!!!

Information was not given correctly. The show is not being cancelled. The writers are ending it and it was always meant to end at season 4. Watch the videos on youtube. I did some research and found that SYFY is not at fault for this.

Sounds like an excuse. SyFy cancels way too many good shows & keeps the men hugging hard & rolling in tights (aka wrestling) & that "reality" (in quotes because it's bullshit) ghst hunting crap & people making stuff for scifi shows that aren't used in scifi shows, just stupid crap! They don't even re-run the good stuff anymore like SG1, SGU , SGA or BG! It's a public relations night mare to get vlamed again so they come up w/ some lame story, but let me ask you, what writer would give up a steady job on purpose?? NONE! They are writers & could have come up w/ story lines for years to come! I am desperately trying to like HELIX & DEFIANCE but they are crap compared to BH & WAREHOUSE 13 which are both ending! WTF? ALPHAS is great to, but again still not as good as the two that are ending. Speaking of ALPHAS, anyone know when or if that's coming back?

I have come to enjoy the US version as muchj as I liked the first three seasons of the UK version, this weeks episode rewind rewind,, had all three actors acting with such assured grace. It makes syfy's decision to shutter the series all the more regrettable. I assume that they are doing this because the contracts for the principals are up, and rather than negotiate, and pay them what they are worth, they drown another series. I intend to get rid of syfy as soon as this series ends. VIVA SALLY, JOSH,AIDEN,NORA, ANNIE, MITCHELL,,GEORGE & NINA. syfy cancels another great series, i reccomend we all cancel syfy!

Being Human was a great show, and Syfy has put that to shame by ending it so suddenly. I'm not even a writer and I could think of so many good twists and ways to take the show for an exciting 5th season. Syfy, you're really disappointing and disrespecting your audience by ending this series in 6 episodes. Not to mention all the hard work and the heart all the actors and actresses put into making this series... I'm very upset about this decision, and I believe I'm not the only one out there feeling the same.

I think it stinks, the cancellation that is. At it's best, it was a great, interesting even throught provoking show with humor and originality (yes, originality despite it's origins and subject matter) and at it's worst, it was still fun. I think it's dealing with issues other shows of this genre stay away from for shock value and ratings and I will be really sorry to see it go.

Aw, nooo! I was really hoping this show would get at least one more season. I'm with you, I really hope they were given the chance to tie things up well in the finale.

When I think about it, though, Aiden's storyline this season has been very final-ish. His wife's return and his confession and subsequent break-up with Kat have resulted in him really actually facing his blood/murder issues for the first time. And as for Sally and Josh/Nora, I'm not sure how much further you could take their storylines. I've really enjoyed this season, but when you look at it, it's really just been more of Josh and Nora figuring out how to be a normal couple in the face of also being werewolves, and Sally dealing more with how far she should be allowed to bend the natural order of things.

I just really hope they're able to wrap it up well and don't end on a cliffhanger!

The one time an overseas show gets remade for North America, and it's better than the original, and this happens. It's a sad day for quality TV.

Agreed. Even if you discount the re-cast from the UK pilot the argument can really only be made that the first one or MAYBE two seasons of the UK version were as good or better than the US version. After that, it's not really even close.

Since they've got notice, they can wrap up the show properly. I'd rather it go out a year early than a year too late so four years probably isn't the worst thing. I almost never give up on a show after investing more than a season into it...but after the UK season 4, even knowing the 5th would be the final, I was done. The US version deserves better than that.

I'll give you props then, because I couldn't even stomach my way past the season 4 premiere, it just wasn't the same show without Mitchell, and it really wasn't even worth watching without George and Nina. Annie was gorgeous, but hardly an interesting enough character to hold out for her ending.

I figured I'd give it a shot. I had originally been sold on the entire concept of the show from the pilot with Guy Flanagan and Andrea Riseborough as John and Annie. I thought they were perfect.

Even though she wasn't nearly as fun and quirky, I could accept Lenora Crichlow...cause...well...look at her. I didn't like Aidan Turner as Mitchell from the start. I liked Tom and Hal even less but figured I'd give them the same opportunity. No deal. Between them and the absurdity of the story line...I was out. Not even Kate Bracken could save it for me.

In the end, the US version has been consistently better and deserves a better fate than that of its UK counterpart. Go out on it's own terms now.

I'd totally forgotten that was Andrea Riseborough in the original pilot (her career hasn't suffered any since skipping the series!) Didn't care for Hal at all, Tom was sorta meh (much like George was to me), and well, Kate Bracken? I didn't care for her much at all until she added blonde hair on Misfits and suddenly my interest went WAY up.

I just have to say... SCREW SYFY!!! Being human was the only reason I tuned into this channel... This show had one of the best "character development" runs I have seen. You really knew them! AND I loved the witty commentary. Ok, I've heard that they are putting all of there eggs in the "Helix" basket... Focusing on that show.. I'm here to say that this show is BORIIIIING!!!! I tried, I really did. Being human is and will be ( for at least a while) the best show they have going for them! Alphas I loved! Cancelled! :( and I know some if you feel like the show ( being human) was a bit "lagging" at times, but it really is great and has been getting better as it goes. I can see ending it at season 6... But 4!!!??? Really. I'm done with syfy! And if they think "Bitten" is gonna make up for the absence of good TV, they are sadly mistaken.. It's a bit "lack-luster" to say the least. Helix is not your winner Syfy... Being human is. I really am SOOO disappointed that they think they are portraying "good" tv and shows coming up, when really they are just creating their own destruction. Being human is awesome and the actors are outstanding! May they move on to something that will fulfill what Hollywood promises..... Not what Syfy screwed them on. Ugh. So sad!!!!

I'm not surprised by this, SyFy has fallen from what it used to be and is relying on too much reality shows. How long do you think Bitten and Helix will last?
The other content like Haven, Lost Girl, and Continuum are all imports (I could be wrong about Haven) and all their 'B' movies are not monthly any more, seriously could not be more ashamed of how you have sold out!

BTW still waiting for the final episodes of Warehouse 13

You are (wrong about Haven). :) It's a Syfy original show that is an American/Canadian co-production (like Being Human). So it's not actually an import.
But I agree that Syfy seems to be more and more relying on imports and reality shows, which greatly saddens me. At least we get a 26-episode fifth season of Haven! Which will probably be its last, but hey, that's quite a bit of time to wrap up the various storylines.
As for Being Human, well, that's a shame, but it sounds like they had planned this for awhile, which means the storylines will probably all be wrapped up. Ending a series is much better than canceling a series at the last minute, so there's no resolution. In fact, ending a series is also better than just dragging it along season after season as it gets more and more painful (I'm looking at you, Vampire Diaries.)
Hopefully the last half of season four provides a fitting end to the characters we've come to know and love over the years!

Wow. 'Gallows Humor' may have been the best episode of the series. This news when you have an episode that frakking brilliant. The stories all worked even the one I worried about Sally, her brother, and Donna. Sam Witwer had his 'Angel' moment facing all of what he'd done chained to the sink with great addition to the cast this season Katharine Isabelle as the combination Buffy/Angel Vampire Vampire-Hunter so much crazy history and you just accept it cause the two of them are so good together (thank you show for getting rid of the boring one) and its THIS show. You couldn't take your eyes off of either of them in the scenes they shared. And the horrible, disturbing, sad final scene with Josh and Nora and him finally realizing how f'd up Sally brought him back. Canceled?!?!? Oh that's right this show is owned by a channel owned by NBC Universal. If 'Helix' gets canceled its game over for almost all of their own shows (Yeah 'Defiance'? No.). SyFy now too much reality (some so bad imagine if you had a live reality show cancelled before the first season ended? Happening this week on SyFy.) and some great Canadian owned sci-fi! One of the first shows this network aired were re-runs of 'The Incredible Hulk' this announcement needs that shows beautiful closing. Bad news in a resurgent season but then again its just NBC.

First Alphas now Being Human? This sucks. The american version was always better than The British one. But I hope the finale closes all stories. I wish it could've gotten a final six episodes at least ala Nikita or Wearhouse 13, but season four has been the shit though

I actually agree BBC's original series was better. Sure they had fewer episodes per season, but their 5-year run was of superior quality even with the various cast changes. SyFy's BH was all right, but it was overly dependent on the special FX and it didn't help that the first season ripped off several storylines from the original. But it become more of its own series once they stopped doing that. Good, but not as great as BBC's original series.

SyFy has a bad habbit of axing pretty much everything after it ran for 4 seasons now and they always had their fun chopping down beloved shows. It's why I don't watch anything that channel makes anmore. Only when it's ended, I hear it's good and I hear it has a real ending - then and only then I consider to buy the Blu-ray/DVD and watch it after it's run... sorry for the fans of the show. Remember to tell me whether the ending was an ending ;-)

Its best season. Katharine Isabelle has been a godsend to Aiden's story. Every single scene and story was put together perfectly and every actor and guest star made it better. We even got the return of the sweater. Same company canceled both shows! this and 'Psych' NBC.

Well, that makes sense. NBC must want all of it's subsidiaries to have ratings as bad as its flagship channel.
For me, this means USA is done. I've quit watching Suits thanks to Mike's hair, and I don't enjoy endless hours of NCIS, so there's no longer anything on that station to watch. It wasn't long ago that USA was about all I did watch. What a change. I'll still have Helix on Syfy, though, unless Billy Campbell gets a bad haircut.

She is the best thing to happen to Aiden in a while. I'm more excited about Sally's story, though, right now. Especially the possibility of her changing her own personal past. And I know the guy who plays Robbie is Sally's RL brother, but he looks more like Sally than she does. He's good, but it's kind of distracting.

'Gallows Humor' was just superb, what a dumb time to announce the cancellation. They've really saved the character of Robbie this season (by giving him a story and then killing him). The sweater coming back and Sally maybe having a chance to change her history is the best 'Sally' story they've ever attempted. And that horrifying good night kiss between Josh and Nora that just ran their story, that got just a little play this week, to front and center. One of the best episodes of television of the year. MVPs Witwer and Ms. Isabelle.

Argh! I HATED Kat. I hated every thing about her. I hated her character, especially the fact that she was unaware of men's ability to become nurses in the year 2014, I hated the way she talked, I hated her baggage. I just hated HER. To me she was just another one of Aiden's interchangeable women. I'm glad she's gone (I hope forever).

Noo!! I feel heartbroken that its cancelled, what a sad way to go. Like most I really didnt pay much attention to the ratings. This show wasn't the most amazing thing out there (well it was for the space channel, I mean who really stays tune at 10pm for Bitten?), but it was still a lot better than the filth that passes for sci-fi/supernatural series these days(e.g. TVD) . I really hope they at least had the chance to tie up the storylines, and explain some things. Like why did aidens ex-girlfriend look exactly like suzanna, and why does kenny look exactly like henry (aidens other son). And is henry really dead? I know they say he died offscreen but does that really mean hes dead dead?
I'm going to misss watching this show and im going to miss watching all the actors (there all really attractive). Especially sam witwer and sam huntington (and of course meaghan rath--yay for YTV's 15/love)! P.S any link for the cast thank you for Canadians? Please. Thank you.

In this day and age, there has got to be a phobia term for 'fear of a show getting cancelled'. Thus, once I start to look for a new show to watch, I'll search for one that's preferably in there 3rd or 4th season.

Also...Suzanna and his ex-gf don't look alike (other than both being brunettes and being female), and Kenny and Henry don't look alike (other than both being brunette, and being guys).
