So, how is this season going to come about, because they've done something I wasn't expecting at all.

For those of you who have also seen episode 1 of the new season, please discuss it.

I don't know. It was definitely a big departure (on par with season nine of Stargate SG-1). I didn't like the episode for most of it, but by the end I was pretty excited to see the next one.

I found this first episode to be well written, well acted (especially Russell Tovey) and very much reminded me why I've been missing this show so much. The ending was very dramatic but extremely sad. It brought back memories of Torchwood, as in great story writing but why punish us loyal fans by killing off our favourite charactor?

I will of course continue to watch and welcome the new guys with hopefulness that this fantastic show will carry on being awesome but some actors just cant be replaced. Doctor Who is still good and will always be good, but Matt Smith will never be as good as David Tennant and Torchwood will never be as good as it was when Ianto was with us and if we lose Jack as well in the next series, it may be too painful to watch without them both.

So I await the next episode of Being Human with sadness in my heart but I'm still grateful to have this back on our screens.

I thought one of the new guys was the spitting image of Kelly from Misfits, I checked and yeah, they're brother and sister, nice to see they're both getting work in the same genre.

    Pretty poor for me.

That's just my opinion and people enjoy things for different reasons. What I loved about the original series 1 -3 seemed to have been surgically removed from the script.

The quirky kitchen sink style drama with lashings of wit and the cleverly interlaced supernatural seems to have been reduced to a one dimensional attempt to emulate Buffy or Underworld.

So out went slowly paced narrative that built upon the nuances of the strong performances of the four original actors in terms of human drama which over the course of a series would create a creeping sense of suspense ( you know something bad is coming). In comes a fast paced action piece with no time for plot or character development.

There was more action in this one episode than in the entire first series. Sadly though, I don't think we Brits do action as well as across the pond so it ended up failing on all counts.

I found the fighting choreography poor and slightly pantomime like. The scenes set in the future looked like the scenes they do in Red Dwarf when they are parodying Sci Fi.

Also what about some of the crazy plot devices. Were wolf blood is now toxic to vampires? Really? Ghosts can time travel to change the past? When any bat crazy idea goes the internal logic falls apart and so does the suspense because you are aware that what ever happens it can be reversed by another bat crazy idea. To be honest I got the impression that they were clearing the decks with unseemly haste in this episode.

My next concern is the quality of actors they have got to replace the original trinity .

Although they have done their best to recreate the same characters ( I read the vampire is supposed to be another aged Irish man ) I am not convinced these fresh out of acting school actors can match the more experienced cast members they are replacing. I'll watch the next one probably about half way through and decide if this unpromising start justifies continuing viewing. As Dad and provider I can normally only watch about an hour a day TV so I am VERY picky about what I watch.

I thought this episode was horrid. This may as well be a spin off because that's what spin off shows usually do...take 1 character from the original show and start a new one. There is only 1 main character left and it will never resemble what we knew. Spin offs usually suck and I don't think this will be any different. It felt like everything was rushed to "clean house" this first episode. Ridiculous!

Misfits is working fine with cast members leaving, I think it will turn out OK. You adapt to the new characters and it all becomes entertaining again, then again it could also fall flat on its face, I doubt it though.

So far, only one of the original cast left from the series, from what I can tell, and was replaced by the actor from "This Is England".

    SPOILERS BELOW

So I watched the US version of BH first, just so I could appreciate the original for what it was instead of watching the remake afterwards and comparing. Although I guess I end up doing that anyway.

But I've got to agree. Mitchell leaving after season 3 was questionable...tolerable depending on how they work it. Then I watch the premiere of the 4th season. Killing off George was a bad idea. You're right.. this might as well be a spin off. The show was about those 3 roommates a Werewolf, Vampire and Ghost all trying to live their lives such as they are but having each other to fall back on at the end of the day essentially helping one another 'Be Human'.

I pray the American Being Human learns from it's Original and does NOT take this route. Killing Nina off screen was a bad decision. Obviously a contract couldn't be reached with the actor there, or they would've killed her at the end of season 3 with Mitchell.

I'll continue watching..but it's not must see TV anymore. Just a show I hope can recover.

If they were going to take BH this direction..there shouldn't had been a 4th season but this a 2 Hour Movie Finale (ala Serenity to Firefly) and brought back Mitchell and Nina. Continuing the show now just seems...unsettling.

ok so now we have jumped to the wolf, vamp goast xmas story. a babe is born,a savior who will save humanity from the original pact with the devil...toby isn;y being overly original here...although the vamp recorder and his little ritual was funny...some of the ep was very kick ass,but other parts ie...our ghost never pops when she needs to?. all in all very good. i thought we were not suppose to give the big stuff away you guys??? i don't think americans are as use to as the brits that there heros are so human they die,but the brits have no prob with that, and it does well for the story in the long and oftern in the short run...just have to wait and see. i am looking forward to it. i was hoping the talkative guy was going to stay, i thought he was a fun character. farewell to geo and mitchell...you guys were better than great and i will miss you...i was hoping the guy from geo gently at the end of the last season was going to stick around also, but guess not...at the the end of last sea"i am the wrath of god" he is a grat actor...so a huge ending and bigger beginning to a great series...alot to adjust to! i hope fans will stay and know that change is hard but not always bad. who knows the actors themselves may have had other projects to go to? and the new cast looks awesome...
