I noticed that the Omnitrix has been screwing up a little bit regarding forms. Like in Kevin Elevin today when He wanted Four arms, he gets heatblast. Also, when he wants Stinkfly, he gets Fourarms.

In fact, I think it started in the Krakken when he was in the water and he wanted Ripjaw, he gets XLR8 and in Tourist Trap when he wanted another form (More or less likly heatblast) he got Upgrade and in the comercial for the next commercial he wanted a nother form and he got Heatblast.

So unless Ben is Bad at this sort of thing, There is something wrong with the Omnitrix or there is something we all don't know about, post comments here

One upcoming episode, "A Small Problem", will most likely use this defect as a plot point.

The episode descriptions seem to hint that the malfuctions are a continuing problem. He's had quite a few mis-transformations now.

Chances are the Omnitrix's malfunctions are the result of it still adjusting to Ben's DNA and it's not made any easier by the many times he uses it in a single episode. But that's one person's opinion.

It's still just a prototype and probably has bugs to fix, but perhaps it is picking forms that it thinks are more apt for the situation. It would have been programmed by people who understood the strengths and weaknesses of each soldier. It knew XLR8 could run over water, even though Ben didn't. About the other transformations: maybe it thought Ben could throw a fireball, or throw a truck, at Kevin, and so avoid being touched.

That is true. Prototypes always have a certain bug.

The problem with the "the watch knows" theory is Upgrade in "Tourist Trap". Turning into the form that can't handle electricity doesn't seem like such a good idea.

    Excellent point.

Upgrade's strength is working with machines. Machines run off of electricity. An experienced warrior of Upgrade's race could merge with a powerful enough machine to be able to utilize Megawhatt's energy and stop it from misbehaving. The form would be perfect to stop an electric monster, but Ben doesn't know how to use it.

The logistics of that are practically impossible. Machines don't work correctly when too much energy is introduces. There was nothing in that town remotely capable of what you suggest. Were the watch smart, it would have known that.

well what would the watch have turned Ben into? all the other forms wouldn't work as well as upgrade, despite there not being a powerful enough machine.

If the watch were smart, it would have made him Stinkfly. The slime would short out those little creatures.

They'd have to hit him, which they proved to be fairly incompetent at doing. Strictly speaking, Stinkfly would have been the best choice of alien.

This is one of them shows where you find your self playing a game of Rock-paper-sissors with the main character.

anyway, I believe that the omnitrix is both malfunctioning and working properly.

    Let me explain,

maybe with alien technology the watch was equpited to try to asses the sisuation, and suggest an alien before transformation. but the ruffness it's had to go though resently has messed up that system and instead of just suggesting it just goes ahead and choses for ben.

I think this idea is just here so that later we will meet someone who can "fix" the Omnitrix and give us some backstory to it. all said it's just a set up for a meeting later.

The correct english is "This is one of THOSE shows where you find YOURSELF playing a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors with the main character." Just making sure you realized this.

In the preview for next week's episode, one clip shows Ripjaws completely surrounded by fire and gasping desperately for water.
I don't know if this will turn out to be a clever ploy by his opponents or a case of the Omnitrix malfunctioning. If it's the latter, it'll be the first time that an Omnitrix error is greatly responsible for endangering Ben's life.
(Imagine if, rather than glitching to XLR8, it had turned Ben into Heatblast in "The Krakken".)

Yikes. It probably malfuntioned because in "The Krakken," Ben went underwater to make sure no one saw him activate the Omnitrix. I think that it may just not be fit for activation in the water. Also, did anyone notice that "The Alliance" marks the second episode in a row where Ben tries to go Four Arms, but gets Heatblast?

wait, if it couldn't function under water then why have an alien that needs water on it?
