When XLR8 landed on the windshield of the Rust Bucket, the glass should have either shattered or cracked since XLR8 landed on it at full speed with all his body weight after falling at least 30 or 40 feet from the air.
Look Hard: When Ben landed in the pond after defeating the storm, you can see Captain Shaw from "The Krakken" on the left side of the boat, and the lifeguard from "A Small Problem" on the right.
Pay Attention: When Four Arms is using the guitars to defeat the monster, he needs to go really close to it, in order for it to hear more noise. There wouldn't be any difference though because the speakers project the noise and sound, not the electric guitar. The speakers will still be in the same place.
Outside Knowledge: When S.A.M. attacks as a cloud monster, he said he was attacking The Arena (Allstate Arena) and Wrigley Field, but those two locations are about 14 miles apart.
Vance: Well, from now on, I'm just reporting the weather, not trying to change it. Guess there's nothing that wrong with just being another handsome face, huh? Grandpa Max: (smiles) Yeah, I know what you mean. (Ben & Gwen laugh) Grandpa Max: What?
Ben: So, this means we can go to the Sumo Slammer Convention now? Grandpa Max: Sorry. One has nothing to do with the other. Ben: But I went XLR8 to save the day! Grandpa Max: As a matter of fact, I was wondering about that. You just happened to be him when that cloud monster appeared? Ben: Uh, yeah. Why? Grandpa Max: Well, just that XLR8 could have zipped off to that convention without Gwen or me ever realizing you were gone. Ben: Oh, well, like you think you know everything.
Grandpa Max: Right on! Isn't this just the grooviest? Ben: Grooviest? Oh, and I thought Grandpa's shirt was out of date.
(XLR8 lands on the RV's windshield) Gwen: Now that's one ugly bug on our windshield.
Grandpa Max: Hey, hey! The Shag Carpeting autograph booth! So, who wants to come to the booth with me? Ben: I'd rather brush Vilgax's teeth with my tongue than wait in line to get those fossil's autographs.
Grandpa Max: You know I've waited all summer to see Shag Carpeting. (holds up record album) Ben: Those weirdos make Wildvine look normal. Besides, who listens to records anymore anyway?
This is the second and last time in this series that Ben tried to become Ripjaws but only succeeded in becoming Heatblast. The first was in Benwolf when he didn't change at all.
Omnitrix malfunction(s): Ripjaws - Heatblast
Purple lightning (also seen in "Benwolf", "Under Wraps", "The Return", and "Be Afraid of the Dark") appears in this episode, however the other episodes had a connection to Ghostfreak's plan and this did not.
Pay Attention/Look Closely: When the kid was watching Sumo Slammer on TV, the 2 sumos wrestling were Ishyama and the video game version of Grandpa Max in "Game Over."
Mark Thompson, the voice of Vance Vetteroy, is an actual weather reporter for KTTV Los Angeles.
Running Gags: 1) Ben wanting to go to the Sumo Slammer convention. 2) Ben talking about taking a bath.
This episode aired after "Game Over" in Australia.
The pocket music player Ben has in this episode is the same one he won in "The Unnaturals" when he was Grey Matter and guessed right on how many jelly beans were in the jar.
At the end of the episode, when asked to stop its destruction, S.A.M said, "Not until I destroy those who stopped me before," and its gaze falls on Ben, Max, and Gwen. This is sort of foreshadowing, due to the fact that S.A.M was hit by purple lightning, and in the next episode, Ghostfreak returns, with three minions and power over purple lightning.
Sumo Slammer is mentioned again.
Heat Blast can apparently make weapons out of flame, as seen by the katana of fire in this episode.
Main Transformation(s): Four Arms.
Main Villain(s): S.A.M.
We see that Ben knows how to play the guitar.
Grandpa Max has added a feature onto the Rust Bucket in which he can press a button and it comes to him.
Ben, while joking, mentions Vilgax.
This episode was supposed to air on Saturday, March 3rd, 2007. Commercials for the episode even aired.
This episode takes place in Chicago, Illinois.
Ben mentions Aunt Vera, who the Tennysons visited in "Permanent Retirement."
This is the first time since "Kevin 11" that Grandpa Max and Ben have had a fight.
Alien Form(s) Used: 1) Heat Blast. 2) XLR8. 3) Four Arms.
Cartoon Network (UK) airdate: February 18, 2007.
Power Rangers When S.A.M. says to Four Arms that he is giving him a headache, that is a reference from Power Rangers seasons 1, 2 & 3. When the rangers destroyed a monster of Rita's, she would scream the same line.
Water Monster: Appearance The first water monster S.A.M. makes looks exactly like the Kaithim from the W.I.T.C.H. episode "Battle of Meridian Plains."
S.A.M.: If you thought the great Chicago fire was bad, you haven't seen anything yet. The Great Chicago Fire was a disaster infamously caused by Mrs. O'Leary's cow kicking over a kerosene lamp, and was also mentioned in Ben 10: Race Against Time.
Character: S.A.M. S.A.M. is based off of the character H.A.L. 9000 from the Space Odyssey book series written by Arthur C. Clarke.
Water Monster: Appearance The water monster that appears looks similar to Chaos from the video game Sonic Adventure.
