Just in time for the season finale--though it's probably no coincidence--that this is one of the best episodes of Ben 10 so far. The pacing is still the same, the quality of the action, but the difference here is that the main storyline is finally establishing itself, with a twist too! Vilgax looks like Ben's most formidable opponent yet, but this isn't the first time he's battled against a Tennyson. The way that the episode was building up grandpa's anxiousness really made you tentative of his behaviour. We also discover that the RV is also equipped with alien busting equipment and is not just used for transportation. A very good ending to a rather mixed season one of this cartoon.
  • good episode.

With his wounds finally healed, Vilgax decides to personally retrieve the Omnitrix. He again contacts Ben in a dream, which Ben tells Max about. Worried, Max plots a course to Mount Rushmore. Ben ignores Max's warnings not to go alien and flies off to stop trouble along the way, only to engage in combat with Vilgax. After a futile struggle, Vilgax captures Ben and brings him aboard his ship. Having retrieved weapons from a secret base in Mount Rushmore, Max and Gwen free Ben from Vilgax's extraction device. Ben and Vilgax fight again, but Ben surrenders when Vilgax holds Max and Gwen hostage. Unknown to either of them, Max had activated a self-destruct command on Vilgax's ship. Ben traps Vilgax and escapes, leaving his opponent in the resulting explosion.
  • It is a major turning point in the story about Vilgax and Max Tennyson.

This episode is a very important episode, dictating the sequence of events from then on. We learn that Max is really not telling all that he knows, although we are still in the dark as to the part he plays in the whole affair. Vilgax also finally shows his face, engaging in an 1-on-1 match with Ben, which was pretty much the most exciting duel in Ben 10.

The animation is great and the idea of the Omnitrix going wacky and changing Ben into different alien forms is impressive too, adding a touch of suspense to the tale. This keeps viewers glued to see what would happen next in the entire show.
  • This is a great episode filled with action!! I love every second of it!!

I only started watching in S2. I totally fell in love to it. Luckily, since S3 won't air for a month or so yet, they let S1 roll again. I thought S1 was better and I started watching it all the time! This episode was one of the best, totally enjoyable, and was worth it! This show keeps you going on, making you love every minute of it! From the time Ben found the watch to the time he has to stop himself from blowing up! I love this episode, and nothing will stop me from loving it at all! -Mathwizard09

Every episode is good on it's own, it ends before it begins I think sometime, meaning that they are very exciting and deep and just when I get comfortable and in to it it ends. This is one of the few episodes that has a good action that can be prolonged even longer, meaning that him changing is more exciting than when he times out all the time and isn't familiar with the omnitrix. Vilgax is a great enemy, is archenemy you can even say, thus this kind of episodes are on the top of all the Ben 10 episodes so far.
  • i love how we see grandpa's past

With Vilgax's injuries fully-healed, he decides to retrieve the Omnitrix personally. Ben gets a message from Vilgax in a dream about his imminent arrival. This worries Grandpa Max greatly, and he insists that they get to Mount Rushmore as quickly as possible. Unable to pinpoint the exact location of the Omnitrix, Vilgax begins to lay waste to nearby Rapid City in order to flush its holder out. He succeeds, despite Grandpa Max's protests, and manages to capture Ben. Meanwhile, Grandpa Max makes it to Mount Rushmore with Gwen and shows her a huge facility beneath the mountain. There, he's stored a weapon that can defeat Vilgax. Unfortunately, the weapon fails, leading to a showdown between Vilgax and the combined Tennyson family.
  • Good way to end Season 1

I like this episode of Ben 10. It's a good way to end Season One of this series. Vilgax comes to earth to take the Omnitrix from Ben personally. It is also revealed that Vilgax knew Max from the past because Vilgax addresses him by his last name. Also, the Plumbers' Headquarters is located in Mount Rushmore. Vilgax also captured Ben to get the Omnitrix, but Max shot Vilgax down with a high-tech secret weapon of some sort. I'd say this is a good way to end Season 1.

This has got to be the best episode of the entire first season!!! I love Vilgax; he's got to be my favorite character. Sure he's ugly, but his powers are amazing! I liked the part where Heatblast was walking up to him and said,'not so tought when you can't move are you?' That part made me laugh! Another good part was when Grandpa Max drove the RV onto Vilgax's ship and then drove through it to get back out. I also liked the fighting scene on Mt. Rushmore and the fight on Vilgax's ship. To make matters simpler: I loved the entire episode; there wasn't one part that I didn't enjoy.
  • A thrilling season finale.

Ben and Vilgax finally meet face to face.

In this action packed season finale, we see that Vilgax is fed up with failure after failure in retrieving the Omnitrix, so he decides to take matters into his own hands. Meanwhile, Ben has a nightmare about Vilgax and Max hastily decides to head towards Mount Rushmore for unknown reasons...

To lure Ben out, Vilgax sends out robot drones to attack a nearby city. When Ben appears to destroy the robots, he gets captured by Vilgax and taken on to his spaceship. To rescue Ben, Gwen and Max go to a secret area located inside Mount Rushmore and retrieve a big honking weapon. When they get aboard, Vilgax was in the process of disconnecting Ben from the Omnitrix. Apparently Max and Vilgax have met each other before. Anywas, a power surge appeares to have overloaded the Omnitrix and Ben is transforming into different aliens at different times and we see an all out battle between Vilgax and his drones and Ben, as he tries to adapt to different aliens in different situations. Pretty soon, Ben gets captured again when Vilgax holds Max and Gwen hostage, but Max has set his spaceship on self-destruct. Ben manages to escape as Vilgax's ship explodes. When Gwen and Max finds him, Ben just says "Grandpa, we need to talk."

Is Vilgax still alive? What secrets does Max have? What new enemies will we see? Will find out in season 2!!
  • Why is everyone so kuku crazy over this episode. Grandpa's past is shined on, but the only good part of this episode was when the Omnitrix malfunctioned. It was just whatever...

First of all, tell Vilgax to go suck a lemon cause he is the ugliest thing ever. Next, there were 4 good things about this episode... 1. Gwen and Max's wild ride into Vilgax's ship! 2. The watch malfunctioning... 3. Heatblast vs. Vilgax! 4. Mt. Rushmore fight... There was one bad thing about this episode. 1. The sloppiness! The tiniest little things and careless mistakes mentioned in the trvia section of this episode! All in all, this episode wasn't bad, but it wasn't spectualar or anything different than what another show would have put out for their first season finale. This episode just served as a brief history lesson on Grandpa Max and Vilgax...
  • A great way to end the season.

This was a great episode and a great way to end the first season. The fighting sequences were very awesome! Battle on ground and in the air, tons of destruction, how better can a season finale be! I was finally glad to find out the secret behind Grandpa Max’s past after it have been hinted at all season. The weapon he used was cool as well as cool looking. I also liked how the season ended on a big cliffhanger so it makes a second season almost sure to happen! This is one season finale you do not want to miss!
  • This episode was great! it was cool to see all 10 aliens and how Ben used them.

This episode was great! it was cool to see all 10 aliens and how Ben used them. Its also the first time Ben transforms while running i mean without the predetermined scene. We also see Vilgax healed from his injuries and too see how strong he is now. It was a perfect episode to finish the season and in my point of view the best episode this far.
  • This episode was a great season 1 finale and leaves you waiting for season 2.

This episode was a huge thriller for me. We finally get to see Ben fight Vilgax! It's like an ultimate showdown so that part was a huge thriller! We actually learn that Grandpa Max somehow knows Vilgax but that secret is never revealed. We have yet to learn how Grandpa knows him. The fact that Vilgax almost beat Ben was suspenseful, exciting and left me on the edge of my seat, begging for more. If it weren't for Grandpa, Ben wouldn't have been able to overcome Vilgax. We don't know for sure if Vilgax is dead. I doubt he is considering that would be way too easy. All I know is that Secrets was the best way to end Season 1 and keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for Season 2.

  • Vilgax is fully healed, and out to get the Omnitrix. Meanwhile, Grandpa Max has some tricks up his sleeves....

It was very good, very exciting, though there were some small plot holes that bothered me. First of all, Vilgax. How was he healed? In the episode prior to this, he was still ravaged, yet in this episode he was fully healed, beyond what he ever was. In fact, he was bigger, stronger, and more powerful than originally. Second, Grandpa Max. How is it that he just happened to know Vilgax would be coming? Or that Vilgax wanted the Omnitrix? Or, for that matter, that he could track the location where the Omnitrix was last activated. Hopefully these will be answered more in the next episode. Over all, however, excellent episode.
  • A recooperated Vilgax takes a "hands on" approach to getting the Omnitrix from Ben. Nuff said.

Awesome episode. Vilgax finally shows what he can do, and what he does is whip on anyone he can find. The whole "self-destruct the base" thing was more then a bit cliche, but he'll be back. It was also cool to see the random transformations Ben went through when the watch power surged. I'm also glad Grampa dropped the whole plumber bullplop. Plus, he's got a cool gun.

My 7 year old son had this to say about today's episode of his favorite show: I thought it was cool when Ben was captured and Vilgax put the arm with the omnitrix in a metal barrel-like object. The power surge effected the watch so Ben turned to different aliens rapidly. My favorite part was when Ben was captured in that energy net-like object. It was very useful that Ben was Heatblast and burned the thing that caused the net's lasers to melt. I liked that all that Ben needed to do to turn back into Ben was touch the omnitrix symbol on him. I was surprised to find out that Grandpa Max was a spy like guy. I have a feeling that Vilgax was not destroyed in the explosion of his ship and was stranded on Earth. I hope this isn't the last episode of the season!

  • The first season concludes with this episode. Two words: Absolutely Wonderful. The first season may have come and go quickly, but it has shown many things that we would expect.

The final episode marks the end of the first season. The final showdown between the Tennyson family and Vilgax was intense, and it ends with a happy one. It was unexpected that Grandpa Max would immediately react to Ben's visions, and he reveals quite a bit to his grandchildren. He was not your normal plumber after all, wasn't he?

Vilgax is surprised that a mere child is playing with the Omnitrix's power. He explains to Ben what he plans to use the Omnitrix for, and he says that he wants to control an army whose members each weld an Omnitrix. He points it out by giving a visual example on how useful it can become.

Vilgax also reveals that he clearly understands how the Omnitrix functions. He knows how to disable the transformation before waiting for the Omnitrix to revert back. He also seems to understand how to switch between forms. Now that is something that we all are looking for in the future.

Grandpa Max was one of the major characters in the episode. He shows us how important it was why they should arrive at Mount Rushmore. His RV also revealed secrets, which had a function to lead them to an underground facility, holding numerous containers. Max opens several of them, and finally chooses a specific one. He explains that it was specifically designed only to be used on Vilgax.

Gwen and Max prepare to board Vilgax's ship, just before they took off. Inside, Ben is held captive by Vilgax, about to remove his arm. Max arrives in time just to stop him. However, when Max tried to drive the ship, Vilgax managed to survive the blast from the bio-laser. He explains that he has become much stronger, and the weapon does not affect him.

The battle between Vilgax and Ben was intense, and yet, the Omnitrix reacting rapidly between alien DNA made the brawl more interesting. At one time, the alien may be a disadvantage, but when he transforms, it is the other way around.

Ben has a decision to whether he wants his family, or to surrender to him. Ben shows how noble he can be, and gives himself to Vilgax. As He enters his ship, he is warned by Max not to enter. Vilgax is surprised that Max has enabled the self-destruct mechanism. He attempts to disable it, yet fails, and takes one last shot from Max's bio-laser. This time, it is controlled by the grandson of the man who has stopped him before: Benjamin Tennyson.

With Vilgax's final words, Ben leaves him behind, and transforms to Heat Blast, a small reminder that Ben has learned many things along the way, with Heat Blast to begin his adventure with.

In the end, Ben is seen to be quite satisfied after defeating his ultimate enemy, yet Ben asks his grandfather to explain to him. Gwen also seems to be surprised how Max knew all of this.

Then they look at the sky, as Vilgax's ship parts fall onto the ground, they imagine, and we continue to imagine, what the Omnitrix may deliver them. But was Vilgax destroyed in the explosion? No matter, because we know, that we have the best hero in the world.

The episode was simply amazing, and to summarize it all, Ben 10 has proven itself to be the best it can be. I believe that the series overally deserves ten stars out of ten, and deserves to continue, which will eventually reveal to us this coming May. Re-runs will be aired during the month of April, and if you haven't watch some of the episodes, I strongly suggest that you watch them!

With overall high ratings for the past few months, I can foresee a very successful market. Video games, action figures, apparel, graphic novels, books, DVD video, around the world premieres, movies, costumes, cosplay, websites, and many more stuff.

Ten alien forms in my wrist is all that I need, and it started when the alien device did what it did, didn't it? Then it stuck itself upon Ben's wrist, and it reveals what it hid. Then he's got super powers, he is not your ordinary kid, he is Ben 10!

But for now, we bid adieu to Ben, Gwen, and Grandpa Max...

    until we meet again.
  • Well that explains a few things.

    "Superb"
Since the show started I've been wondering about Grandpa Max's insights. For example, how did he know that Ben had turned into an Alien in the first episode. In Washington BC, what about chasing bad guys reminded him of the old days if he was a plumber. And he seemed to know a great deal about combat training in Hunted.

But this episode starts to explain all that. Apparantly Grandpa Max was no plumber seeing as how he's got access to a secret base under Mt. Rushmore and knowledge of how to fly and destroy a space ship. Not to mention his history with Vilgax.

It's going to be quite interesting to see the full range of Grandpa Max's experience.
