    8.0
The second season finale of Benidorm starts and is packed full of laughs. We start off with everyone getting ready for Madge and Mel's wedding. Mick goes to help Mel get ready and asks him if he thinks he is rushing into this as they don't know much about him. Mel tells him a long list of things he has done including, selling lots of shops and becoming a millionaire. Mel and Madge go for a romantic walk along the beach the night before their wedding and end up on a dogging beach. We find out that Kate is pregnant. Jack turns up at the wedding and tells Janice that he has a car and that they ca go any where. Mick overhears it all as do the rest of the wedding guests. Mel has another near death experience, just as he is about to say I do and loses his memory, so Mick punches him hoping he will get his memory back. We end with Mick being arrested for punching Mel, and Mel being taken to hospital.moreless

    • (as two drag queens walk by)
Jaqueline: Lovely! What was your wedding like?
Gavin: Oddly enough, nowhere near as camp as this.

    • Donald: We had a bit of a run-in with Madge and her gentleman friend at the beach last night.
Troy: What? You went on the beach after Neptunes?
Donald: Yes, it's quite a tradition in Benidorm. It's not everybody's cup of tea, but we always take our video camera down there. Always something interesting to film if you know what I mean.
      Troy: Are you serious?
Donald: Oh yes, one year, Jaqueline and I got someone to film us recreating the famous love scene from... That movie... What is it called?
      Gavin: Free Willy?
      Donald: No! What was it?
      Jaqueline: From Here to Eternity.
Troy: Bloody hell! And you say Madge and her boyfriend were there last night.
Donald: Yes, they didn't last long, although we did meet a very nice Welsh chap, didn't we?
Jaqueline: Oh yes! He lasted a lot longer.
Gavin: Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.

  • ALLUSIONS (3)

    • Free Willy

Gavin's apparent reference to Free Willy, a well-known movie about a boy who frees an orca from captivity, is actually based on the British slang meaning of the word "willy".

    • From Here to Eternity

Donald and Jaqueline are referring to the iconic beach scene in From Here to Eternity. In it, the characters played by Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster famously made love on the beach as the tide came in and the waves came down on them.

    • Gavin: Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.

This line is a direct quote from The Wizard of Oz in which Dorothy, played by Judy Garland, says this line to her dog Toto after the storm carries her to the land of Oz.
