Benjamin Bluemchen is German animated television series about a strong and helpful elephant who lives in Newtown Zoo. His young human friends Otto and Stella often visit him and they even travel and spend holidays together. Their adventures lead them to learn new things in different places. Created by the Berlin-based Kiddinx studios, the series is adapted from Elfie Donnelly's audio stories. Other significant characters in the show include Herr Tierlieb, the zoo director and his assistant Karl the Keeper, the impetous raven Gulliver, the cheerful reporter Karla Kolumna, and Bruno Presssack, the vain mayor. It aired from 1988 to 2002 and featured the voices of Edgar Ott, Katja Primel, David Pettitt, and M.J. McCann, among many others.
