  • T.J. Parker is a rascal & a good for nothing. Unfortunately, he also looks a lot like Prince Yubi. In a case of mistaken identity, Prince Yubi is blamed for T.J.'s crimes while the hunters prepare to blast off with T.J--until they see he has no cipher.moreless

Double Trouble is one of those great episodes where actor Christopher Burton's talents shine through the most in this series as he takes on a guest appearance--as well as his starring role as Prince Yubi--as T.J. Parker, an Earth human whose disregard for other people makes him a bit of a rogue.

It is a challenge for an actor of any age to play two very different characters who look this much alike in a single show yet present them both so differently that it becomes very difficult to discern that he is the same actor in both roles. At 7 years old, Christopher Burton delivers on all accounts. TJ is believably distinct from Prince Yubi in nearly every detail, from accent to body carriage, walk, and so forth. TJ, as a native Texan, speaks with a heavy Texan accent, while Yubi's very northern and regal speech reflects the refinement one expects from one educated in a royal household. Yubi is ever polite at every moment, filled with Nobless Oblige, and never letting his royalty get in the way of good and proper manners. He never talks down to anyone.

In this episode is one of Yubi's longest monologue which begins "You see, I really don't have a home here on Earth, my home is the planet Antars, way off in another galaxy...." in which Yubi articulates very precisely his entire state of attires and we learn, for the first time, that the King, his father, is dead. In previous episodes, he is simply never mentioned. For this reason, I consider this one of the four most important episodes in terms of what we learn about Antars and Yubi's life there.

Christopher Burton handles this monologue perfectly and makes this episode one of the best for displaying his acting ability--in both roles. It is truly one of my favorites to watch. I hope it is yours too!.moreless
