Handwriting on the Wall

Episode Recap

Ed Peck returns as Captain McDermott, and his straight faced, monotone delivery combined with his single-minded seriousness is a very funny highlight of a rather standard episode.

The governor is about to sign a controversial bill, which has caused picketers to march outside the mansion. More alarming is a series of threatening letters written to the governor in crayon. The threats continue to escalate with a threat written in crayon on one of the mansion walls, handwriting on the wall.

Captain McDermott comes to a hasty decision that this is the work of a staff member and sets up some boisterous motion detecting alarms throughout the mansion, in order to catch the culprit. The wall-writer is found to be a sleep-walking McDermott.

But a bomb-like device is found in the kitchen. Benson helps McDermott defuse it. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief as Katie comes into the kitchen and wonders why her science project is destroyed.
