Caska finds Judeau's division of Hawks and leads them back to where Guts was fighting alone. Although injured, he defeated all the enemy soldiers by himself. They return to the Hawks' camp and Caska tends to Guts' wounds. But since Guts knows of Caska's feelings for Griffith, he pushes her to him and walks off.moreless

      • Guts: (to Caska) I've never had anything except my sword. I don't want to die. For me, that is the only reason I can keep fighting. There is nothing to save myself for or give myself to. I fight because I know nothing else.

      • Caska: (to Guts) I understand, it's like each one of them has his own little light or small flame that he brings to the band of the hawk.

      • Guts: It seems that everybody stakes their lives on a lost cause. Looking over them all from up here I almost think I can see their little hopes and dreams flickering in each light.
