Best Friend's Date

Show Summary

The N, the nighttime network for tweens and teens, will commence production on Best Friend's Date, the first reality dating series exclusively for teens. Created and co-produced by Adam Tobin for The N, Best Friend's Date will be produced by Rick de Oliveira of the de Oliveira Entertainment Group (DEG) and will be shot on location in Los Angeles from July 24 through the end of August. The series is slated to premiere Friday, December 3 on The N. Dating can be exciting, embarrassing and nerve-wracking for everyone, but for teenagers figuring out who they are, what they like, and how to act, it's all the more challenging. The N's Best Friend's Date will allow teens to eavesdrop on blind dates and see what to do -- and what not to do -- with their own romantic travails. Based on the premise that your best friend probably knows you better than you know yourself, Best Friend's Date has teens' best buddy screen and select their perfect blind date. Just how perfect remains to be seen as cameras accompany each date to find out whether the result is magic -- or tragic. Each episode will feature a best friend selecting a date for their buddy from a pool of four candidates. After putting each prospective date through rounds of interviews, challenges and various hoops, the choice is made. But that's just the start. After best friends introduce their choices to their friend and their parents, the real test begins. The young provisional couple must cope with first date jitters (sometimes first-ever date jitters) plus other surprise curveballs the show will throw at the duo -- like bowling while handcuffed together or singing karaoke on street corners. Every date ends with the inevitable moment of truth where each dater must decide whether it's a "Yay!" or a "No way!" Are we in for a budding romance, a mutual "no thanks," or heartbreaking rejection? • Another teen-ween show about dating, COME' ON! MTV already thought of these shows in the 90's!

    5.0
Why make another one and call it an original?, But to be honest the show is pretty nice in someways of its own!

    1) three people from the oppisote sex, or if it is a gay version.... are competing for a date

2)They Dance, Sing, Or just crap theire pants and do what it takes to WIN!

3)They make presents using clues the friend gives them!

4)The people are shallow and choose the prettiest person!

    COMPLETE waste of TIME!

I give this show a 5! for its non-originality and for having lasted for 2 months or soo.moreless
  • What was the point of this show? I guess the-n needs viewers and I can see why, with shows like this...

    0.8
This show is pointless and mindless. A friend chooses a date for their friend.... okay yeah that's nice now I'm supposed to watch it? This series was on during the Degrassi hiatus, and EVERYONE knows that when Degrassi ends The-N will have no viewers.

This show isn't coming back and for a good reason. Even celebrity dates couldn't help this show. The only episode that was even "cutting edge" like it's supposed to be was the gay date. That is unusual for teen dating shows, but all the other episodes were just garbage.

  • good show

    9.0
What\\\'s better than a reality show...a dating reality show? Especially when your best friend gets to choose your date, the one person who knows you the most! If you enjoy watching shows like Elimidate, Date My Mom, Blind Date, or Next you will sure as hell like this! It\\\'s dramatic, it\\\'s funny, it\\\'s romantic, it\\\'s cutting edge, and it\\\'s one of the best reality shows on The-N!
  • ok.
this show is totally a rip-off of blind date
