Best of Comedy Central Stand-Up Showdown 2011

Show Summary

Best of Comedy Central Stand-Up Showdown 2011 is the collection of the best acts from Comedy Central's annual stand-up comedy competition. Comedy Central began in 1989 as The Comedy Channel, the first cable channel devoted exclusively to comedy programming. In 1990 Viacom launched a rival channel called Ha!. The channels competed for two years until merging into one on April Fools' Day 1991, rebranding as CTV: The Comedy Network, and finally settling on Comedy Central in June of 1991. Airing comedy films, sitcoms, stand-up, and original programming, Comedy Central pushed itself into more households with hits like The Daily Show and South Park. In their annual Comedy Central Stand-Up Showdown, some of the best comics in stand-up compete to see who is the fan favorite. Beginning in 2007, the series lets viewers pick their favorite acts from the year of their stand-up series Comedy Central Presents. Voters weigh in via text and the web to pick one winner to take home the crown. In 2011 there were some hilarious performances from comedians like Mo Mandel, Donald Glover, Doug Benson, Amy Schumer and winner Bo Burnham, and the network has gathered the favorites in Best of Comedy Central Stand-Up Showdown 201.moreless
