Bette fails to make People magazine's list of "The 50 Hottest People in Hollywood" and realizes she needs to come up with a clever career gimmick. A high-powered, trendy publicist concocts a great idea -- Bette will have a nervous breakdown and a quick recovery. The recovery, however, does not go as planned, and soon everyone believes that Bette really is mentally unstable. Meanwhile, Oscar and Connie come to the realization that they have the exact same taste in men.moreless

    "Good"
This episode is yet another good example of how the star overcomes the tripe she's given to work with.

Bette pulls out all the stops to entertain her fans, but those around her all seem to be hiding daggers under their costumes (or pens). It's just a matter of who will attack first... Et Tu Brute?

Even as the lights have dimmed greatly on what could have been a great tv series, it's only Midler herself that brings back the viewers.

Even the stoic unfunniness that is Brett Butler is a far cry above the other regular cast members.

Midler's "I'm Dancing As Fast As I Can" performance is endearing yet sad at the same time as anyone can see that she's being plagued by everyone and everything around her.
