Just when we're working on our eulogies for the demise of the tv series "Bette", someone force sneaks in and gives us something to cheer about.

But don't stop writing those words of endearment yet....If history is any indicator, this is just a nice stop on the way to the impound lot.

First, after Olivia Newton-John's successful battle against breast-cancer, it's wonderful to see her anywhere.

Secondly, Bette gets more chances to play off of actresses with roles that are seen as traditionally the straight man.....but Joanna Gleason and Newton-John both turn in wonderfully funny performances.

I'm thinking that Olivia must have brought in writers with her, as this is far above the muck and tripe that the regular writers have been offering.
