Bette fails to make People magazine's list of "The 50 Hottest People in Hollywood" and realizes she needs to come up with a clever career gimmick. A high-powered, trendy publicist concocts a great idea -- Bette will have a nervous breakdown and a quick recovery. The recovery, however, does not go as planned, and soon everyone believes that Bette really is mentally unstable.
