  • Season 2 starts off with a goody

    8.5
As will be the theme with this series, the season openers always seem to deliver, and this one sets the tone. I always thought the producers were geniuses by putting together some summer episodes on this series. Coming off the near move, Brenda finds out she's late. She takes a home pregnancy test and generally has a big scare. It really needs to be stated too how well Jim and Cindy do in parenting roles. Unfortunately it gets overshadowed by most fans, but they are so essential to these early years and most fans take it for granted. Meanwhile Brandon is noticing the tips at the Peach Pit are getting smaller, and customers fewer. Not good for his summer end plans to have his mustang. So on Steve's suggestion, decides to try and become a lifeguard. He fails miserably, but Henry Thomas, the manager of the Beverly Hills Beach Club, is impressed with Brandon's character (and really who isn't?) and offers him a job to be a cabana boy. Brandon scores the most rightous job of the summer, but has to dump on poor Nat with no notice. Meanwhile, despite not being pregnant, and despite Dylan being amazingly supportive through it all, Brenda does what any normal person would do... dumps Dylan. Lets face it Brenda is simply a big pain in the a$$! Dylan is completely devastated and rightfully so. A very solid way to open Season 2, and you can already tell, each of the characters is much more confident, and the writers are starting to become a little more aggressive in the stories. MVC: Brandon (18), Brenda (15), Dylan (8), Jim (8), and Cindy (10)moreless
  • Brenda breaks up with Dylan after becoming worried that she is pregnant. Brandon begins working at the beach club.

For anyone who ever wondered if Dylan loved Brenda more than Kelly, the answer is YES! Watch this episode when she breaks up with him in his car, and you see how incredibly saddened he is. He loved her so much and it was apparent how devastated he was. This was the very first episode I ever watched and I was 12 years old and totally sucked into their story. I could not want to see if they would get back together. Watching Dylan tell Brenda "no" in the car is so heart wrenching and it showed just how strong their love was. Brenda and Dylan were the best couple on 90210, followed of course by Donna and David :)moreless
  • Another good summer day in Berverly Hills.

It's summer and Brandon breaks news to Nat that he is quitting his job at The Peach Pit, to work at the Beverly Hills Beach Club, to raise money for a new car. Donna, Brenda, Andrea and David decide to spend the summer in an acting class. Brenda gets uptight about a pregnancy scare, and faces breaking up with Dylan.
  • Brenda & Dylan break-up

    9.0
I admit it, I cried when Brenda broke up with Dylan. I don't know if it was the dialogue, the acting or the fact that "Losing My Religion" was playing in the background, whatever it was, this scene was powerful! Even now (16 years later) when I hear Losing my Religion, I think of this scene. Even the scene when Brandon tells Nat about quitting the Pit to go work at the Beach club was a bit emotional, but not enough to cry over it. If I remember correctly, this is the only time Steve has a job until after the college years.moreless
  • Brenda and Dylan are both hurt by their break-up

    8.0
The best part of this ep is when Dylan finds Brenda at school and tells her he is hurting, it's sad because she feels the same way but she is scared about their relationship, it is so sad when they are both basically crying about the break up, when they both know that they belong together!!

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • In the scene where Brenda breaks up with Dylan in the car at the beach the song Losing my Religion(R.E.M) was playing. However, in the DVD another song plays during that scene.

    • The show gained popularity during the summer of 1991, when crafty FOX executives aired a special "summer season" of the show, while most other shows were in reruns.

    • Brenda tells Jim and Cindy that she and Dylan started having sex two weeks earlier, but in the previous episode, she tells Brandon that she and Dylan had been having sex for three weeks.

    • It seems odd that there would be a beach club named the Beverly Hills Beach Club. Beverly Hills is more than ten miles from the ocean, so it had to be located in Santa Monica or Malibu... But everyone from Beverly Hills hung out there, so it left the impression that in 90210's world, Beverly Hills is by the ocean.
