I've been going through previous posts and I was surprised at how much
love others have for Valerie Malone as well. I know that there are some
that feel the show was ruined after Brenda left, I actually feel that
the introduction of Valerie took the show to a whole new level. Of
course the storylines got a bit more racy as the show was trying to keep
pace with Melrose but who could blame the writers? The characters were
in their early 20s by then, It was time to add some spice. I do realize
the importance of Brenda to the history of the show and actually like
the character as well, but I think Val did something that Brenda
couldn't do: she made the show HOT(its just something about her that
scorches my TV set. However I wished that Brenda could have returned for
atleast for one episode to tear a hole in "oh-so-suddenly
    self-rightious" Kelly Taylor's heart.

I so agree with you. Brenda will always be in my heart but Val (as soon as she hit the screen with her first eppy) stole my heart. Val relate to the extreme. and i love how she did the dirt on both Kelly and Donna.

Yes, I so love Val! Brenda was probably my favorite character, as I felt she was the most realistic character. I too loved Val from the first moment on screen; they really gave her the juicy role.

For me, Val is definitely the most dynamic character, and I truly thought that Tiffani Theissen was one of the better actors on the show. I did feel as though she was unfairly villianized a great deal of the time. The women seemed to be able to forgive the men of any infedelity or screw up, but Val was villified. for it.

Me too! She's my favorite character and I hope (some day) she will return to 90210 (the new series). Hopefully Tiffani will change her mind soon.

Val is awesome! Tiffani is hot. She's a great actress. She got to say and do things I would love to and found very intersting. It was nice to see someone be kind of bad but know in real life they a good person and liked by their cast. Shannen kinda ruined Brenda with her behind-the-scenes issues in her life and not getting along with some of the cast. When I was younger I loved the first 4 seasons with Brenda. Now I get happy when season 5 starts on soapnet. So glad it's coming out on dvd this month!

Why did Tiffani leave the show in the first place? Did the writers think "hey we might go on for 20 more seasons so lets refresh our cast now to make the show feel new again" or because they didn't know what else to do with her character or did Tiffani want out?

Tifanni wanted to leave the show as did Jason. There's no way the producers/writers wanted either of them to leave. They were both critical parts of the show. Tiffani left a couple of episodes after Jason did. They got bored of playing the same roles and wanted to pursue other career opportunities. It's unforunate for us fans though.

I love Val! There were some times when I didnt like what she did, like when she went out of her way to try to get money out of someone like that Kenny guy I think it was, but I love how she was so original, funny, smart-a$$y and plain rude to Kelly because she was a b!tch to her first and I hated KT.

at first Brenda was the reason i watched the show, then it was Val, then Gina (except Gina wasn't enough to keep me tuned into season 10... dreadful*)

Val was a major part of the show. her sociopath behavior always tended to get the best of her. she was the best character on 90210 IMHO. she changed a lot during her final episodes of 90210 in season 9.

I do agree that Val was villainized to the extreme within the group.
Last weekend, soapnet aired the episode where the girls spend the night
at the convent (season 6) and this was after Valerie confessed to
sleeping with Ray. Of course it made sense for Donna to be mad but Kelly
was coming down extra hard on Val with the snarky comments and all as if
she was Holier-than-Thou. It made me want to fast forward a few seasons
to the episode where she got shot just to see her shut up. As stated
before whenever one of the guys did a sin it was brushed away (with the
exception of Dylan of course). Hell, I still have a hard time sitting
with the fact that Kelly juggled between best friends (Brandon & Dylan)
and no one even batted a wrongful eye at her yet if Val was to do the
same, Kelly would probably throw a big Thanksgiving feast and invite
everyone except Val just to rub it in... oops she already did that.
Don't get me wrong, I do love Kelly Taylor and cannot wait to see her
return in the spin-off, there are episodes (or should I say seasons)
when she can be a real hypocritical COW.

Yup. She was very houlier-than-thou and just as much in season like 7, 8 and probably 9 and 10 too cant remember. And also, she does realize when they are all asleep and thinkin out loud that she hasnt been the greatest either. But yeah people seem to either overlook her indiscrections or just dont say anything, and I love Brenda and all, but she seemed to forgive Kelly AWFULLY quickly over the Dylan thing. She was still hurt by it, but it didnt seem like she was actually mad or anything at her for that long. Anyway, thats why I hated her and she was one of my least fave character. As far as her returning, maybe shes become more sweet and mature and wont be like that but IDK.
