Use this post to submit your ideas on when 90210 jumped the shark? For those that don't know, jumping the shark is the moment when the show went downhill (coined after Fonzie literally jumped a shark on water skis, in his leather jacket). Some ideas of mine are:

    1. Donna and David almost get back together...again
    2. Donna becomes "sexy" and always has her cleavage exposed
    3. Donna sleeps around with the male model
    4. Kelly and Brendan don't get married and then celebrate a reception anyway
    5. Dylan's dad isn't dead
    6. Antonia is shot by her father
    7. Kelly joins a cult
    8. Noah messes up and Donna forgives...again
    9. David steals Gina back...again

    Thoughts?

i always thought the show jumped the shark after brandon and val left the show

so i'd go with dylan's return, dylan's dad revival, and your number 1 & 2

It went down hill after Val and Brandon left.
Dylan's return and back to drinking and drugs
Noah became a drinker and always feeling sorry for himself,
Donna always trying to act sexy and sleeping around
Gina anything to do with her.
Steve and Janet having a baby
    Dylan always obessing over Kelly
Pretty much season 9 and 10

yep gotta agree when Val and Brandon left. The show was originally about this family that moved to Beverly Hills and was desperatly trying to fit in. Then all of a sudden the whole family was gone, but the show continued.
another time it jumped the shark was the whole dylan, brandon and kelly thing again.

i still think the show had to end with brandon and val leaving; at least in my "ideal" last episode kelly leaves with brandon to washington, and val go back to buffalo; dylan is still with brenda in london and never came back in L.A. to drink and drug again, steve and janet are happy (don't mind, they're so boring together) and donna could end with anybody she's too stupid anyway lol

They should have end it with Kelly and Brandon getting married like they were suppose too in season 8.

I know, and where was Brenda in the final episode, she should have been there.

It jumped the shark when Brandon left. But I got used to it and I still love it. I think Donna's and David's wedding was the perfect ending.

I think it jumped the shark when Brenda left. Valerie, and then everyone else who followed never made the group whole again. Also I didn't like it when Brandon left. However I think Andrea getting pregnant was jumping the shark - she was the sensible one.

i agree, the andrea storyline wasnt that belevable to me either. it seems like it would have been someone else like kelly or something. i think they only did it cuz andrea was pregnant in real life.

I certainly didn't enjoy all the storylines, and the show was never quite the hit it once was, but I think that just happens over time (say, 10 years or so). I  really don't think the show ever took a bad turn, so bad that it was never good again.

And Dylan retuning, at least for me, was a highlight. My only wish would have been that Brandon had been around a while longer - I always enjoyed his and Dylan's friendship!

I don't think the show ever jumped the shark.  It kept me tuned in religiously for 10 years.

I totally agree. It was like the show was The Brenda Years and then it was After The Brenda Years. I don't really think the show has ever been seen in a whole to a lot of people. Then when Brandon left, that was ridiculous. This a show about the Walsh family and all the Walshs are gone and you're gone still keep doing the show? I guess money was more important then continuity.

i dont think as much as it was in the first couple of seasons always completely based around the walsh family... it was called beverly hills 90210 and i dont think that its intention was always to show and have the family in the main cast... it was clear that jim and cindy werent needed as much when the kids where in college because the kids werent needing parents anymore... i think it showed the dynamics of the 90210 post code area and i think that that was always the intention... they threw in the regular american "ideal" family into the mix to show the contrast between the ideals of other states or citites compared with those of beverly hills...

I loved it the whole time, but some of the most farfetched storylines were Donna sleeping with the male model, and Brandon cheating.

I used to think the show officially Jumped the Shark when Brandon and Valerie left, but after watching this show religiously for years and catching almost every episode -- save for seasons 9 and 10 -- at least 5 times each, I've changed my answer to it officially happening at the beginning of season 6. The show started to change in season 5, but from the start of the following season it had a totally different dynamic. The "soapiness" began to rear its ugly head, and it was downhill from there. The Hawaii episode premiere of season 8 was not too bad, but the introduction of Noah and their return to LA marked another pivotal moment in the show's downfall. And of course the straw that broke the camel's back was Brandon and Valerie's exits. After those two left, the show was complete crap.
