I remember watching this episode, when I was eleven years old and about to finish the fifth grade. I can't believe that she was punished for staying out after curfew a few too many times. That was so unfair for Brenda. She could not go surfing in Mexico with Dylan. Brenda secretly decides to go anyway and asks Kelly and Brandon to cover for her. Kelly meets Jake Hanson, a handyman and a longtime friend of Dylan's, who helps her overcomes her fears about her mother marrying David's father and they both become attracted to each other, despite their age differences. This is the introduction of Jake Hanson, which he appears on the spin-off "Melrose Place".moreless

    • When David, Donna and Kelly are helping Mel and Jackie with their invitations they are wearing the same clothes they were wearing in an earlier scene at school. However, if this storyline follows the same time frame as Brenda's this event does not take place until a few days after the aforementioned day at school.

    • Border Patrol Officer: Hey, I'm sorry, but we're gonna have to get a legal guardian down here with your birth certificate or, failing that, they'll have to sign a sworn affidavit verifying you a citizen. Unless, maybe, you're not an American citizen. Brenda: Of course I am. It's just that if you call my parents, I'm a dead American citizen.

    • Kelly: (to Jake) You can get personal if you want to.

    • While helping Brenda with her scheme, Donna mentions a troublemaking cousin. This could very well be Gina Kincaid, who does not appear until season nine.

    • Grant Show's appearance as Jake Hanson was a not-so-subtle introduction to the 90210 spinoff Melrose Place.
