  • The gang exchanges an egg- great plot

    9.0
I love that Steve forces Andrea to join the game and not sit on the side lines as Brandon hooks up with Emily.

I also love that fact that Dylan admits being at a place with drugs and alcohol challenges him, but Brenda helps him resist them.

The other thing that touches me is that Brandon faulters, other than the night he was arrested for drunk-driving, Brandon has always been the straight-arrow kind of guy and this shows the true Brandon - he is not perfect, even he makes mistakesmoreless
  • I would like to exchange and egg!

    9.0
This is a fan favorite, and for good reason. Classic episode. The Brandon-Emily fling is now a full fledged romance. Emily gets the gang to come with her to an underground club. The concept is, you exchange an egg at a convenience store for the location of the rave. Brandon, Emily, Brenda, Dylan, Kelly, Donna, and David all go at the same time. David gets himself a bottle of whiskey, and turns out to be a pretty funny drunk, as he proclaims that Donna likes him. Meanwhile, Kelly is miserable, and livid with David for getting so drunk, as there relationship blossoms. But the main theme of the episode takes shape when Emily spikes Brandon's drink with Euphoria (or ecstacy). Brandon is all drugged up, and makes an a$$ out of himself insulting Dylan in the process. Hidden highlight of the episode is Dylan not wanting to leave without Brandon, further proving that they had a special bond, that made me love this show. Another plot was Steve and Andrea coming to the party late, and they couldn't find the place because Andrea spilled coffee on it. I always loved these two when they were having their exchanges, as the Andrea character was always so much better if it was just her and Steve. Not romantically, just as friends. He could always make her laugh and feel better, and he consoles her when she confides to him about her feelings for Brandon. Very nice touch. Anyway, Brandon comes home, and Brenda, who plays the concerned sister very well in this ep is there to make sure things don't get out of hand with Big Jim and Cindy. Jim as usual is brilliant as the pi$$ed off father, and Cindy the ditsy, but brilliant concerned Mother. Line of the show was Brandon to Jim and Cindy "Thats what my life is all about, working my tail off to pay for the damage I inflict on my car." His car of course gets totally destroyed when he leaves it at the club. The show ends with him breaking it off with Emily, but you can tell he still loves her deep down, because he won't reveal to his parents that it was indeed her who spiked his drink. Absolutely golden episode, and MVC's go all the way around. MVC: Brandon (28), Brenda (19), Dylan (14), Kelly (11), Steve (12), David (8), Donna (5), Jim (13), Cindy (11), and Andrea (7)moreless

  • QUOTES (2)

  • NOTES (1)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Brandon: (talking to Brenda and Dylan who are leaving the underground club) Hey, hey, hey, come on, guys! Don't go away mad!
      Emily: Just go away.

The dialogue alludes to a Mötley Crüe song "Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)". It was released on the album Dr. Feelgood in September, 1989. Interestingly, the song itself contains a reference to an earlier song by the band, "Too Young to Fall in Love."
