Emily Valentine says something along the lines of "This place isn't Beverly Hills, it's Knot's Landing!" Brian Austin Green (David) was on Knot's Landing from 1986-1989 playing Brian Cunningham.
When this episode originally aired and in syndication the song Addicted to Love by Robert Palmer plays in the beginning of the show when the gang is getting ready for the first day of school. However, when Season 2 was released on DVD the song was changed, even though Donna still makes the comment that David had played the song.
In this episode, the gang (except David and Scott) starts its junior year (11th grade). However, they started their junior year in the first episode of the series.
Dylan: You can't have it both ways, Bren. The fact of the matter is you gave up any right to ask me questions about my sex life when you decided you didn't want to be a part of it.
Emily Valentine: When I got to school they should have given me a score card instead of a class schedule, so I can keep track of everyone's boyfriends.
Steve: You know Kelly, this time last year we were barely on speaking terms. Kelly: Aww, the good old days.
