Larry and Louise Tate have been married for sixteen years and have no children. Louise asks Samantha to go with her to an obstetrician as tests have shown she is going to be a mother. Louise tells Samantha she is afraid to tell Larry since she believes he hates children. Larry, visiting his dentist at the medical center, sees Louise and Samantha enter the obstetrician's office. Thinking Samantha is going to have a baby, he tells Darrin, but cautions him not to say anything until Samantha tells him. In a reverie, Darrin visualizes his children as little witches. He comes to with a sinking feeling. Samantha invites the Tates to dinner. Both Larry and Darrin hover over Samantha, warning her not to exert herself. Louise is all but forgotten, but makes several unsuccessful attempts to tell Larry that he is to be a father. Finally, Samantha tells Larry. He is overjoyed. Although Darrin doesn't tell Samantha about his reverie, he is reassured when she tells him she hopes they have a child who looks just like him.moreless

Larry and Louise Tate (David White and Irene Vernon) have been married for over 16 years but are still childless. Louise believes that Larry is more than happy with this situation as he hates children, therefore, she is incredibly nervous when she finds out that she is pregnant and asks a delighted Samantha to accompany her to the local medical center to visit a gynaecologist.

Meanwhile, Larry has a cavity in his tooth which is painful and must be repaired, but he is terrified of dentists, having only been once before in his life - at the age of 37. An amused Darrin agrees to accompany him for moral support but while at the same medical center Louise and Samantha are attending, Larry overhears a conversation between the two women which leads him to assume that Samantha is pregnant. Delighted for his young friends, Larry heartily congratulates a bemused Darrin and makes it clear that he is more than a little envious and obviously would have liked a family of his own.

When the Tates join Darrin and Samantha at their home for dinner that evening, Larry and Darrin fuss constantly over Sam while Larry instructs a bemused Louise to prepare the meal so that Samantha can rest. Neither woman understands what is going on, but later, Darrin has a terrifying dream in which he sees he and Samantha with a large brood of unruly youngsters, all riding around on broomsticks and behaving appalllingly.

When the truth finally comes out, Larry is delighted and Samantha reassures Darrin that their children should be (relatively) normal and that she hopes they look exactly like him.

A very funny episode and definitely worth a look.moreless

    • In Darrin's dream about what life would be like with a bunch of little witches and warlocks running around the house, one of his and Sam's children is named Rebecca.
