  • When a prize fighter picks a fight against Darrin, he gets more than he bargained for when Samantha uses witchcraft to help her husband out.

    "Mediocre"
It's all very definitely an unfair match up when prizefighter Joe Kovacks (Roger Torrey) picks a fight against an innocent Darrin but things don't exactly go Joe's way when Samantha uses her witchcraft to ensure that Darrin emerges victorious from the fight.

Kovacks is very unhappy with this result as he and his manager are worried about what such a loss will do to his reputation so he asks Darrin for a rematch in which Darrin will agree to let himself be beaten, but Samantha is having none of this and once again uses magic to assist Darrin to victory.

With such an impressive 'winning streak', Darrin soon becomes something of a local celebrity. Things don't get any better for him, however, when he gets into a brawl with heavyweight champion Tommy Carter (Rockne Tarkington)who doesn't actually LOSE when he takes on Darrin, he simply knocks himself out by accident and makes Darrin look like even more of a champion!

This is a very lacklustre episode during which there isn't a great deal of entertainment of much that is actually funny but it is passable as a segment of such a long-running, popular and highly successful series.moreless

    • The character of Tommy Carter, in this episode that was filmed in December 1965, is obviously modeled after the rising star Muhammad Ali, who had just won his second title fight the month before (November 1965). First Carter makes the remark, "I'm the prettiest and I've got an iron jaw, so bust me one." In the build up to the first Sonny Liston fight in 1964, the colorful Ali boasted "I'm the prettiest thing that ever lived," a continued favorite claim of his. The Carter character follows up with a rhyme: "Give it your best, put it to the test, and I'll put you to rest." From very early in his career, Ali was known for the rhymes he created to taunt his opponents. Edit
