  • When Darrin has trouble coming up with an ad campaign to satisfy a difficult client, Samantha offers her assistance, but instead of being grateful, Darrin accuses her of using witchcraft.

Old Mr. Caldwell of 'Caldwell Soup' wants the creative geniuses of the McMahon and Tate agency to come up with something new and interesting to advertise his product. Darrin works tirelessly, until he is exhausted, but he still can't find that 'winning' ad that will satisfy the client. Samantha offers to help and in doing so, comes up with some great ideas; original and fresh. Darrin is angry, believing she has used witchcraft to create them, which is untrue. Upset, Samantha packs her bags and threatens to leave him. Meanwhile, when fussy Mr. Caldwell rejects both Darrin's ideas and Samantha's as well, Darrin realises that she didn't use witchcraft and is most apologetic.

Finally, when Samantha states that they shouldn't let something as silly as a can of soup come betweeen them, she and Darrin patch up their differences and the new slogan for Caldwell Soup is born!
  • Darrin is struggling with the Caldwell Soup account, Sam makes a few suggestions. However,Darrin thinks she used magic,so he doesnt use them. They have a fight and she leaves, then he uses them, which Caldwell doesnt like.Making up,hes comes up with a slogan

Another great early episode, which focuses on Sam not using her magic. Its a good example of how the show depended on character, rather than the maic itself for humor. Not suprisingly, this episode was written by Danny Arnold, who would later create \"Barney Miller\".And its another great performance by Elizabeth Montgomery. Its very understated, but the emotions are heartfelt. There is a great scene near the end where Endora is trying to make Darrin out to be a bad guy,but Samantha defends him without raising her voice.Thats what I love about the black and white episodes, compared to the much later ones.Elizabeth Montgomery really cares about her character at this point.I dont know what happened later, except I think she eventually got bored and she didnt try to hide it.Its commonly known that she wanted to leave after the 6th season, but was coaxed back.Maybe she decided that she would just go through the motions at that point. Its a shame, because of how good she was in the early episodes. At least we can still watch those.
