Episode Summary

Aunt Clara tries to help Samantha fix a lamp, and conjures up an electrician--Benjamin Franklin. Darrin is amazed at Franklin's appearance and Larry thinks it is a great advertising campaign for his new client Franklin Electronics. While Aunt Clara tries to remember how to send him back, Samantha agrees to take Franklin out to demonstrate how his inventions are used in the twentieth century. Unfortunately she leaves him alone with Aunt Clara for a moment and Ben is arrested for stealing a fire engine. Out on bail, the Stephenses return home to await trial when suddenly Aunt Clara sends him back, now too soon.moreless

When dear old Aunt Clara pops in, she finds Samantha attempting to mend a broken lamp the 'mortal' way. Aunt Clara quite rightly deduces that what Samantha requires is an electrician and so, she gets one by casting a spell. Unfortunately, it's not an ordinary electrician but the great Benjamin Franlkin who arrives in the living room!

While Sam is trying to sort it all out, Larry arrives and decides there and then that this is the perfect man for the campaign of his client, Franklin electronics. (Larry only ever thinks of money!) Meanwhile, while Aunt Clara tries to remember the spell to send Mr. Franklin back from whence he came, Samantha takes him out to show him how some of his ideas and inventions have evolved in the 20th century. All is well until he is arrested for accidently stealing a fire engine and is committed to stand trial. Such a pity that THIS is the moment that Aunt Clara remembers the spell to send him back to his own time!

Great episode for the first of the two-parter.moreless

    • When Mrs. Kravitz realizes its Ben Franklin she has just met, instead of staying to talk with someone she is so excited about meeting, she just runs right home to tell her husband. Seems like if you met someone from the past so famous (Mrs. Kravitz always believed Samantha had supernatural powers) you might stay and actually "meet" the individual instead of running away. Edit

    • This was the very first color episode filmed. The doors to the kitchen are the ones used from the first and second seasons, unlike the doors you see in other third season episodes. This episode was the first one filmed by Sandra Gould and Erin Murphy on June 15, 1966. Edit
