Phyllis Stephens (Mabel Albertson) comes to visit and informs Samantha that she thinks that Tabatha is too isoltaed from children her own age and should mix more. With this in mind, she has arranged for her daughter-in-law and granddaughter to have an afternoon with a local family, new to the neighborhood, whom she knows. Gretchen (Peggy Pope) is very much a 'modern mother', wanting to raise her son, Michael, (Teddy Quinn) according to the dictates of child psychology. It doesn't seem to be working very well though because Michael has the house looking as though a cyclone has hit it and the back yard isn't much better.

Meanwhile, Michael and Tabatha don't seem to have much in common. He is a selfish only child, spoiled beyond belief and clearly runs his mother's life rather than the other way around. He doesn't want to share his things with Tabatha, but he DOES express a desire to be a dog and when Tabatha helpfully obliges him, Samantha, Gretchen and Phyllis spend ages looking for him, with the latter pair wondering why there is a nasty looking dog hanging around and Samantha wondering how in the world to get Tabatha alone so that the spell can be reversed.moreless
