As the sixth season begins, we are greeted by an all-new Darrin Stephens and Tabitha is jealous of the expected baby. She decides to run away into the storybook of "Jack and the Beanstalk" and zaps Jack out of the tale, who is then seen by a confused Phyllis. Samantha finds out that Tabitha twitched herself into the storybook and goes in to get her back. She finds Tabitha shrinking the story's giant and messing up the entire story. Samantha tells Tabitha to put everything right back where she found it and brings her home.moreless
  • Samantha finds herself in story book land when Tabitha starts messing with witchcraft.

In this first episode of the new season, we see Dick Sargent playing the role of Darrin Stephens for the first time as Dick York had to leave the series after sustaining a back injury. Dick Sargent is a much more 'gentle' Darrin, not given to looking as though he is about to implode all the time but he was a very good choice for the role and fitted in with the rest of the cast beautifully.

Tabitha, meanwhile, is not impressed with a new baby and her jealousy makes her misbehave. As she gets older, her witchcraft improves and we find her zapping herself into the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk' where the loud, abusive giant is soon, quite literally, brought down to size!

Samantha has to pop into the story herself before Darrin's mother thinks she has lost her mind so that she can put everything right.moreless

    • The opening credits are changed to have the billing start with "Elizabeth Montgomery in Bewitched", which continues for the rest of the series. David White is also now listed in the opening credits after Agnes Moorehead.

    • Deacon Jones, who plays the palace guard in this episode, played for several years for the Los Angeles Rams football team. In fact, he is often credited for coining the term "quarterback sack". He is now enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

    • Originally, William Asher and Elizabeth Montgomery were going to end the show after season five, not only because of Dick York's leaving, but because they were both getting tired of doing the show. However, ABC offered them more money and an increased ownership in the show and so Bewitched went on.

    • Dick Sargent debuts as Darrin in this episode, filmed on April 18, 1969 during Elizabeth Montgomery's seventh month of pregnancy.
