  • Paul Lynde overkill

    4.5
Not a fan of Paul's cheese, overused Napoleon clichs and bad accents, although Larry is humorously greedy and a butt kisser, attempting to get napoleon to act in a TV commercial. Suprisingly, Napoleon's ego causes him to desire the menial acting job.

One of the most annoying writing tricks ever is to write Sam annoyed, Darrin angry at Uncle Arthur's flat magic, and make the audience watch. Even worse, the writers are having us watch Paul tell a bad joke, then explain what the joke was, and show Sam and Darrin yawn and crickets chirp.

One of the worst eps ever, though this show is hit and miss, and I think I might just skip the next one where Paul's Lynde is on.moreless
  • Uncle Arthur comes to visit and brings with him a very boring and predictable episode.

    4.0
When Uncle Arthur arrives at the Stephens house for a visit, he decides to help Samantha out by conjuring up some yummy napoleons for dessert. Unfortunately, his spell goes awry and he ends up bringing Emperor Napoleon himself into the 20th century. Needless to say, while the audience is getting bored, Napoleon is thoroughly confused about how and why he is there.

Predictably, when Larry sees him, he immediately wants to use him in an advertising campaign for detergent but the real problem is how to get him back to where he belongs.

I couldn't find anything even mildly entertaining about this episode. From the outset, it was clear what was going to happen and I always find that disappointing in any show, especially one I usually enjoy so much.moreless
