Late one night, Samantha looks out the bedroom window and sees Mrs. Kravitz sitting on the curb in her nightclothes, suitcases by her side, trying to hitchhike. She goes outside and learns that Mrs. Kravitz has left Abner. Feeling sorry for her and not wanting her to catch cold, Samantha invites her to spend the night in their guest room.

The one night turns into several, during which she cooks inedible vegetarian meals for the family, wears mud packs on her face and generally lectures them on what to eat because of how food affects the body.

Samantha and Darrin both notice how much happier Abner is without Gladys but Samantha thinks this is all a front and so, using a spell, she encourages the local butcher to show a keen interest in Gladys in the hope of making Abner jealous. The poor butcher really doesn't seem to know what's going on but it all works out in the end when Abner and Gladys admit that they do still love each other and head off back to their own house to reconcile.

A worthwhile episode upon which to end the season.moreless
