Big-headed as ever after his victory at the World Championships, Tyson is late for school yet again and his clowning around angers Hilary, the class rep., determined to teach Tyson a lesson, Hilary gives Tyson detention knowing that it will prevent him from participating in a Beybattle tournament at a local supermarket that evening. As Kenny awaits Tyson's arrival at the tournament, he is intrigued by the new gadget that some of the battlers are using to keep track of their performance. With Tyson stuck cleaning out the classroom after school, he fakes a liver problem and sneaks out while Hilary goes to get help, however he arrives too late to see his opponent, Mr. X, obliterate his final opponent in a single, terrifying, onslaught. As the battle between Tyson and Mr. X begins, the World Champion is confident of his imminent success but he is instead beaten by the mysterious new Beyblader who seems to know Tyson's every move. While a stunned Tyson tries to work out how he was defeated in his first Beybattle since winning the World Championships, Mr. X walks away victorious.
