Kai and Tyson are all set up for the final showdown in the City Championship. Max, Kenny, and Ray are all present to cheer Tyson on. As Tyson prepares for the match up in the locker room, he's shocked to see his grandfather burst into the room. Nobody's supposed to be in the back unless they are registered competitors. He discovers that Mr. Dickinson arranged an exception, because it's Tyson's birthday, and he's completely forgotten about it.
Kai watches Tyson with a bit of envy, but he also gets mad at his grandfather because he knows his grandfather would never do anything like that for him. He decides to get revenge in the battle dish.
After the party, Tyson heads out to the beydish, and the match up begins: Kai vs. Tyson. Kai doesn't waster any time as he quickly attacks Tyson's blade with the power of Dranzer. Tyson's not ready for the onslaught, so he quickly loses the first match up. Kenny comes down during the break and realigns Tyson's blade, allowing it to be able to do the Phantom Hurricane Attack in the second match up. Tyson wins the second of the 3, so it all comes down to the final match up.
Both bladers call out their bitbeasts, but Tyson's recent conditioning gives him a slight edge. Dragoon defeats Dranzer, and Tyson wins the City Championship. He's all set to celebrate, but Mr. Dickinson comes on the big screen with some "exciting news." He's decided to make the final 4 of the city championship the BBA's team for the Quest to the National Championship. Max and Tyson celebrate being teammates, and Kai just complains. At the end, he warns them that play time is now over, and they'd better be ready to win the National Tournament since he's the defending champion. Tyson gives Kai a clueless type look, and Kai stares back at Tyson.
