Episode Recap

Bailey comes on to Dawn, who is living in a hotel that she has to leave (due to her funds being cut off). Dawn rebuffs his efforts only to call him moments later inviting him to her room. When Bailey comes in the room he finds a paper notifying Dawn that her father has passed away. Rather than taking advantage of Dawn, Bailey stays with her the night, comforting her. She blames herself for the alienation she had with her father since she was a teenager.

Marcus' return puts Birdie in a quandary as she really loves surfing and doesn't know if she can give it up. When they meet, he takes her engagement ring off and tells her he doesn't want her to feel bound by any past promises. He also tells her that he had applied for medical school before being deployed (he says it was a long shot) and has been accepted at Johns Hopkins. He is leaving the next morning. In the end Birdie decides she can't give up surfing. He gives her back the ring and tells her to put it in a box, and whenever she looks at it to know there is someone that really loves her.

Kai is confused by Vin's reaction to her new publicist which, in her eyes is only doing his job, but Vin sees it differently. She tells Vin that they (She and Vin) have no future together. Then she goes to a meeting at a restaurant with her publicist. The hostess who is a surfer Kai knows, tells her that he made reservations for 2 and asked for "the most romantic seat in the restaurant." When seated, he purchases Apple-tinis for the two of them, despite protests by Kai that she is underage. Suspicious, she brings up Vin's behavior and he says it can just be between the two of them. Then he admits his attraction to her and how far she can go. She offers that if they have sex, would that improve things for her. He says it would seal his full attention. She then stands up and tells him what a huge jerk he is, then throws the drink all over him. He basically says it is her word against his, and she tells him that she will tell Wave Sync he is buying drinks for underage girls on the company credit card, then leaves. In the end, Kai apologizes to Vin for what she did, and he is very kind, and tells her that she made a mistake and she just won't do it again next time.
