Episode Recap

Reggie Miller is one of the greatest clutch players in the history of the NBA. His loyalty to the Indiana Pacers took the organization from relative obscurity to its first playoff series victory and subsequently all the way to the NBA Finals. His will to play the game he loves has been tested over and over again. Yet through hard work, determination and good fortune he continues to persevere toward his ultimate goal: to become a world champion.

Born and raised in the small town of Riverside, California, Reggie was the fourth of five children. In an athletically gifted family, he was anything but. As a youngster, he suffered from a physical disability that restricted his mobility. Once the problem was corrected, he began to develop his basketball skills by challenging his older sister. Cheryl Miller was a basketball phenom. In order for him to carve out an identity of his own, he had to emerge from his sister's shadow.

For Reggie Miller, being drafted by the Indiana Pacers was both a gift and a curse. He was initially met with discontent but made an immediate impact on the franchise and soon became a hero in the heartland. The Pacers' postseason rivalry with the New York Knicks has produced some of the greatest "Miller Time" moments of his career.

Off the court, a failing marriage with an aspiring actress and a heinous crime made him question his devotion to the organization and the people of Indiana. As he pondered retirement, the Pacers hired Larry Bird as head coach to lead the organization in a different direction. Bird convinced Reggie to stay with the team. That year he led them to the Eastern Conference Finals and a showdown with the reigning champion Chicago Bulls.

Miller, now known as "Uncle Reggie" around the Pacers organization, has become a mentor to a team filled with up and coming talent. Although his teammates have changed, his goal of winning an NBA title remains the same. His biggest challenge will be allowing the younger stars to take the reigns while he plays his role on a team he once carried.
