Julie welcomes the live studio audience to Big Brother and it is Day 40 in the house. Head of Household, Chima, nominated Russell and Lydia, but Jeff was awarded the power of the coup d'etat, and he could use the power to change the nominees. The only players safe are Jeff, Kevin (PoV winner) and Chima (HoH).
After the usual recaps, Kevin justifies his not using the power of veto on his best friend, Lydia, was because he did not want to create any new enemies. Chima is giddy because she thinks that Russell will likely be leaving the house. Then there is a montage of each HouseGuest suspecting another HouseGuest of having the mystery power.
Natalie says that she and Jessie narrowed it down to either Jeff or Jordan as the mystery power holder. So, they go outside to hang out with Jeff and Jordan, but Jordan is suspicious as to why Natalie and Jessie are suddenly buddying up to her and Jeff.
Cut to later that night when Jessie and Russell are playing pool and Russell is lobbying for Jessie's vote to stay. However, Jessie is aware that Russell does not have a leg to stand on and he is not going to let Russell "buffalo" him into making a bad decision.
Then we see Russell lobbying for Michele's vote, but Jessie comes in and reminds Michele (in front of Russell) that Russell called Michele "crazy" just about 3 days ago. Russell then gets in Jessie's face and starts yelling at him.
After the break, Julie talks to the HouseGuests about the mystery power and reminds them that tonight is the last night that the mystery power can be used. Julie asks Kevin how he felt about not using the power of veto on Lydia and she asks Lydia the question about how it felt not to have the power used. Julie then reminds the HouseGuests that tonight is the halfway point in the game.
Cut to an interview with Chima's grandmother and best friend and a montage of Chima's actions around the Big Brother house.
Next, Julie talks to Chima privately in the HoH bedroom. The first topic is about how things went from friends to enemies with Russell.
Finally, it is time for the voting begins, but before this happens, Jeff has one more time to use the power of the coup d'etat. Julie says that it was not used last week and asks if the holder would like to use it. Jeff stands up and decides to use it. Jeff has the ability to overthrow the HoH and change one or both of her nominees. Jeff takes Lydia off the block and puts up Natalie. Next, Jeff takes Russell off the block and puts up Jessie. Since Chima was overthrown as HoH, she is eligible to compete in tonight's Head of Household competition.
On to the voting - Lydia votes to evict Natalie, Jordan votes to evict Jessie, Kevin votes to evict Jessie, Michele votes to evict Jessie, and Russell votes to evict Natalie. Thus, Jessie is evicted by a vote of 3-2.
Following the break, the Head of Household competition was held. In "Hit the Road," two at a time, HouseGuests would answer questions based on previous competitions by giving one of three answers - "HoH," "Have or Have Not" or "Veto". The person with the wrong answer is eliminated.
Lydia was the first eliminated (by Kevin), Russell was the second eliminated (by Jeff), Natalie was third eliminated (by Chima), Jordan was fourth eliminated (by Jeff), Chima was eliminated fifth (by Kevin), Jeff was eliminated sixth (by Michele) and Kevin was the last eliminated (by Michele) and Michele won the Head of Household competition.
