Big Brother

We get our usual introduction to the season talking about the house and competitions. We are told about one of the twists--six people in the house will be seeing an enemy. Included in this group are an estranged father and daughter, bitter ex-boyfriends, and former high school best friends torn apart.

Julie Chen prepares to introduce us to the houseguests while throwing in her first "but first" of the season.

Jessica - Student - "The only person I'll be cheering for is myself"
Nick - Former Pro Football Player - "I'm gonna use this body for bait"
Eric - Talent Management Assistant - "No one's ever played this game like me before"
Daniele - Waitress - "Don't underestimate this California girl"
Dick - Bar Manager - "The house isn't gonna know what hit 'em"
Jen - Nanny - "My body is not my only asset"
Mike - Painting Contractor - "I'm gonna paint the others out of the picture"
Kail - Business Owner - "My family runs this town just like I'm gonna run the Big Brother house"
Joe - Receptionist - "I'm gonna blow away the competition"
Carol - Student - "This senator's daughter knows a thing or two about politics"
Amber - Cocktail Waitress - "I'm about to show you how this game should really be played"
Dustin - Shoe Salesman - "I'm gonna walk all over the competition"
Zach - Graphic Designer - "I'm gonna out-think the competition"
Jameka - School Counselor - "I'm a very sweet person but don't get on my bad side. You'll regret it."

It's time for the houseguests to meet each other. They enter the house in this order:

Group 1: Carol, Joe, Mike, Amber
Group 2: Nick, Daniele, Jameka
Group 3: Kail, Jen, Eric, Zach

There is an "Alice in Wonderland" theme to the house with a small room with very small beds, a large room with very large beds, and a round room.

Eric comments on how small he is compared to the other guys.
Jen doesn't find any of the guys attractive. They think more people will be showing up because there are only 11 of them.

They all sit down in the living room and introduce themselves to each other.
Daniele lied about her age. She's 20 and said she's 21. She didn't want to be the one underage girl.

Zach says in dining room that the women in the house are really hot but he's here to win.

Nick says in dining room that Jen is hot with a great body.

Carol finds Jen annoying because of her "enormous giant boobs".

Kail lies about her job because if she makes it to the final two, she doesn't want them to think she doesn't need the money. Kail says that she wouldn't want her kids to choose a gay lifestyle because it would break her heart.

Joe thinks Nick is gorgeous.

Jameka is not used to being around so many white people.

Julie is back to introduce us to the three others secretly in the house. Also, she teases us about how we will be pulling the strings this season.
When they find out they will be spending the summer with someone from their past, they are not too thrilled. Julie is letting them watch the other 11 houseguests.

Dustin sees his ex Joe. He says they are wearing each other's shirts. He says Joe is manipulative.

Jessica sees her high school rival Carol.

Dick sees his daughter he hasn't talked to in two years.

Jessica says Carol owed her five dollars when they were 14.

Julie reveals that there are three others in the house who have been watching them, and they're HoH competition is in a few moments. Eric is expecting something creepy. Joe says maybe it's just Jesus watching them.

It's time for the Head of Household competition. Only the 11 houseguests downstairs will participate. They walk outside to a bunch of giant mushrooms. They have to choose partners and the one without a partner will not play. The lucky loner is Nick. He was fine with it because he didn't want to win the first HoH

The competition is called "Mushroom Madness". One partner is on the mushroom and the other is sitting in front of them with cards labeled True and False. They will be asked questions about their housemates and if they get it wrong, the mushroom will go faster. The longest lasting pair wins and one will be the HoH. Eric wanted to throw the competition. Before Carol falls off her mushroom eliminating her and Amber, we learn that 2 HGs have had cosmetic surgery, 4 would give up their best friendship for $500,000, 1 would not give up their seat to a pregnant lady on a bus, 1 claims to be a member of the mile high club, and more than half would be fine with starting a rumor about someone. Moments later, Zach falls off eliminating him and Jen. There are no more questions but the mushrooms are going to go faster. It is now a battle of endurance. Joe is in pain but is continuing. Mike slips off eliminating him and Daniele, much to Dick's excitement. Kail, Eric, Jameka, or Joe will be the HoH. Dustin really does not want Joe to win because he cannot trust him. Joe falls off and Dustin bad mouths him. Kail and Eric are the winners. Eric is disappointed because he tried to throw it. Julie says that the isolated houseguests are safe because they could not compete, and they will be deciding who the winner is. Eric has one last chance to deflect it from them and says to give it to Kail. Kail reveals that she was the one who wouldn't give up her seat for a pregnant lady because she was pregnant three times and nobody ever gave up their seat for her. The three decide to give Kail the HoH because she did the work. Julie reveals the decision to everyone. Kail is very excited, but is not excited to deal with the stress of nominating people because she likes them all. Daniele is uncomfortable with Kail being HoH.

It's time to bring the groups together. Julie reveals that the HGs upstairs are enemies from the past. Joe thinks his enemy will be his ex-boyfriend Dustin. He says that Dustin gave him gonorrhea and Dustin is freaking out. Jessica thinks that was a bad move to say that and she was grossed out. Kail was worried that someone she knew was going to come in and blow her cover. Everyone is worried it may be them. Daniele is keeping quiet. Joe says that if they win HoH the next few weeks, they need to get the enemies out. Finally, the HGs come down. Dick introduces himself as Evel Dick. Daniele goes into the bathroom and cries. Jameka and Amber come in and comfort her and tell her that if she doesn't want him there long, he won't be there long.

Julie is back to tell us about one more twist. It's called America's Player and we will be participating. One of the HGs will be following our instructions from who to vote out, to who to make out with. And the HG is...Eric. He is excited to do this for everyone. Julie tells us we'll vote after every episode for what he should do. For every five tasks he completes, he receives $10,000.
