Information on Teutonic people from the Third to Fifth centuries:
Goths describe Teutonic people from the Third to Fifth centuries who invaded and settled in parts of the Roman Empire. Strictly speaking the term is indefinable because "Goth" means different things to each follower. However "Goth" has altered over time, having historically alluded to people of no refinement, barbarians and the generally uncultured. There was also a massive shift in architural styles during the Renaissance period in Europe. Medieval architecture was renamed Gothic in order to describe the contrast between more modern, classical lines. This was not intended as a compliment, but to highlight the divide between the modern and unfashionable. Great Britain in the 18th century was awash with a revival for this period however, particulary the architecture. This revival came hand in with a demand for Gothic Cut off here
