  • Big Girl's Blouse is a delightful Australian sketch comedy featuring three of the most well-known women in Australian television.

    9.5
Big Girl\'s Blouse is an Australian sketch comedy from 1994 featuring three of Australia\'s funniest women, Jane Turner, Gina Riley, and Magda Szubanski (all from Fast Forward and Kath & Kim). The fourth Woman from Fast Forward, Marg Downey, was not featured in Big Girl\'s Blouse, but she ended up with a minor role in Kath & Kim and Magda\'s Funny Bits.

What many people don\'t realise, it that Big Girl\'s BLouse was the first time that the hit comedy Kath & Kim was on television. There was a sketch each episode called \"Kim\'s Wedding\", featuring early versions of Kath, Kim, and Sharon, planning for Kim\'s marriage to Brett.

There are also many other memorable character of Big Girl\'s Blouse, mainly the rich society ladies, showing a division in the social hierarchy.

The role Gina Riley stood out in, was the one of the hot-tempered editor of magazine \'Big Girl\'s Blouse\'

One of Magda\'s signature roles, the cynical Lyn, is brought with her from Fast Forward (and ends up being brought to Magda\'s Funny Bits twelve years later) to Big Girl\'s Blouse, along with her signature line \"I said love, I said pet, I said...\"

Fast Forward is still known to most people as Australia\'s best sketch comedy show, which has its moments, although Big Girl\'s Blouse has more entertaining sketches in its short-lived run.moreless

What better than some home-grown TV shows on DVD to take you back to the days of after-school slurpees, Saturday mornings in your jammies, or when your favourite stars were fresh-faced newbies? These series haven't been given the chance to fit the bill yet.
