Big Love

A great episode of Big Love but it simply wasn't as good as the rest of season 3, and for a penultimate episode, that's just not good enough. This was just like last season, when the penultimate episode fell short in a lot of ways. This penultimate episode was better but still not good enough considering how amazing this season has been.



I knew Scott would come back, I just knew it. I'm glad that he's back considering how much I love Aaron Paul but Sarah having sex with him again as if nothing had ever happened? I couldn't find her reasoning in all of it, and I hope to in the season 3 finale. Bill divorcing Nikki was very intriguing, and we got some really great scenes here.



I really can't see the family without Nikki so I hope Bill & Nikki don't actually end things, but you never know with Big Love, it can surprise you. Barb being cast out of darkness wasn't as interesting as I'd like it to be but it was a great final scene. Shawn Doyle has been great on this show and I just love his character now. A great episode overall, could have been better. Can't wait for the finale.

I guess I am just spoiled, but a lot of the penultimate episodes in seasons are great (see Lost, Damages, Breaking Bad etc.) and I found this to just be kind of good, not as great as this third season has been.



The story did not progress in the fashion that I think we all wanted it to. We wanted Bill and Nicki to work out their problems, but instead things got worse, and the annoying Ted character continues to be just that, annoying. I am not sure if we will get a decisive conclusion with Roman Grant either, but I sure hope we do.

I apologize in advance if this is LONG! This weeks episode focused alot on Barb and the price she has paid by entering into plural marriage. Bishop Devry and one of the LDS higher-ups come and visit her at home and ask her outright if she is in a plural marriage. She of course admits to it and is told she is facing a hearing. She also wavers when they asked her if she ever received a testimony for polygamy. This visit spurs her to go and ask her Mother and Sister to use one of their temple recommends so that she can receive endowment. I know the showing of this ceremony provoked alot of controversy from the Mormons, so I wont dwell on it. I do believe Barb knew that it was her last chance to say goodbye to that part of her life. Meanwhile, Nicki stays at the bighouse and exchanges secrets with Alby, much to Luras chagrin. Alby also finds out about Roman and the Greenes being on the compound and confirms their part in Kathys death. He passes this info to Joey. Margene and Barb visit Nicki at the compound, but Barb and Nicki butt heads and Barb ends up leaving. Barb is furious with Nicki and she blames Nicki for Bill entering into plural marriage, which I think is not very fair. Bill made the final decision on that one. Bill ends up calling Nicki at Juniper creek and telling her to come home. She was happy about this until Bill flat out tells her he wants to end the marriage. Nicki goes home and confronts Marg and Barb with the news, Barb doesn't seem to care while Marg is distraught at the thought of a divorce. Barb ends up telling Bill about the upcoming excommunication and she basically says that is the price she has to pay for being in the marriage. Barb is also visibly upset that Cindy sold her out to the church. We then find out that Kim Li was kidnapped by the Greenes. Bill ends up making a deal with Roman and enlisting Ray Henrys help in getting Roman off of probation and getting Kim Li back. Apparently part of the deal, for Bill, is that Roman will unseal Bill and Nicki. Nicki thought everything was back on track since they had slept together the night before, but Bill tells her different. So much happened that it is difficult get it all out. Joey ends up going to the place that Kathy was taken and confirming that Kathy died at the hands of the Greenes and Roman. Bill shows up to find him and ends up telling Joey that he cut a deal with Roman. Mistake! Joey storms off and tells Bill that they are no longer brothers. We have one episode to go and I really cant wait to see what kind of cliffhanger we are going to face. I have heard from numerous sources that another major character will die at the end of the season. My money is on Adaleen or Roman, but it's pretty up in the air at this moment.
