  • Lady Shiva seems to have returned to town to reek havoc even though she is dead theses eight years. Helena's best friend from High School Sandra Woosan returns after an eight year hiatus. Barbara and the Birds must face this danger from her past.moreless

Obviously Lady Shiva and Sandra Woosan are the same person. Even though superheros and super villains can supposedly put on a mask and hide their identities from each other generally it doesn't have to be a mystery to the watcher just to the involved characters.

Pretty good episode investigating Bat Girls past and some of the psychological makeup of Barbara Gordon. I find it interesting how secretive these kind of characters can be even with their partners. It seems to be a common theme. Huntress doesn't tell Oracle and vice versa. They seem to guard their secrets closely.

The secondary tale of Dinah and the boy at school was interesting because it taught her a lesson about the problem with listening in on peoples thoughts when she really shouldn't be. How her powers can be used for ill gotten gain. Sort of the meta-human rule book negative number one.

I do notice that there is a lot of collateral damage in this show. I meant to mention it before but I think I will here. This week a petty criminal and a night watchman are killed just to draw out Bat Girl and Sandra fifteen year old sister was killed by accident eight years before. Lady Shiva was just as responsible as Bat Girl. Everyone seems to forget about that in the end.

We didn't see much of Reese this episode but Alfred seemed to play a more integral part in the story line. It's nice that he looks after all of Birds well being. Luckily someone is after all they go through.

One of the better episodes so far and worth watching just for the outfit Helena wore in the first scene of the show. I have never seen a sweater quite like that one ever and I have done a great deal of fashion and glamour photography over the years.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (7)

    • If Dinah can read people by touching them. Shouldn't she have seen Sandy's life as Lady Shiva when she shook Sandy's hand when she was introduced to her in the club?

    • As the building explodes at the start of the episode, you can clearly see Batgirl's cowl slip off as she lands. In the next shot she is still wearing it.

    • When the building explodes in the flashback, you can clearly see the landing pad and the camouflage cover on top of it move when Batgirl lands on it.

    • When Reese and Helena talk about the murder, Reese says they found the star embedded in the skull between the eyes. However, there is no blood on the star and police wouldn't have cleaned it off.

    • Shiva lands on a car windshield and you hear a breaking glass noise, but a little later in the fight we see the same car and there's no sign of broken glass.

    • In the flashback, Batgirl's batarang has the Birds of Prey "logo" on it. This was before she was was crippled, became Oracle, "adopted" Helena and formed the Birds of Prey organization.

    • Barbara thinks Shiva couldn't have "lived through that blast." Okay, there was a body, but still...people on this show like Hawke and Det. McNally seem to do it all the time.
