  • The five year reunion of Helena's class from New Gotham is in a few days and her classmates are showing up to attend. Unfortunately someone is killing them for some reason and Helena and The Birds must find out why.moreless

    9.5
Much improved episode over the last. The acting is really getting much better. The actors seem really comfortable with their roles and the show is really starting to gel.

Ashley Scott is excellent as Huntress, Dina Meyer exudes confidence and is sexy as the wheel chair confined Oracle, and Rachel Skarsten has developed into a real integral part of the team as Dinah. There is no doubt now there are three partners together. Shemar Moore is also excellent as Reese and the relationship between Reese and Huntress takes the next logical step this episode.

Uncontrollable Infatuation is the basis of the criminal behavior in this episode. They did a good job in the first half of at least keeping you somewhat in the dark as to who the murderer was. After the second it was obvious that it was related to Helena. At that point you knew she was going to have to go to the reunion. Rob Benedict was great as the pretend boyfriend Gibson who went with her to the reunion.

In the end the killer killed himself and The Birds stopped him from taking any other lives. When Helena returns to the reunion she sees Reese and they take the next step in their relationship when she introduces her real self to Reese. The episode ends.

Very well done and worth seeing again. I am now really interested to see where the last few episodes go in this shorten series. Thanks for reading...moreless

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • When Wade and Barbara go to dinner with Wade's parents, Barbara is called away from the table to come back and hear what Wade's mom thinks of her. This should have taken place in the episode "The Prey of the Hunter" where Wade asks Barbara on this date and she also mentions in that episode what she overheard Wade's mother say when talking to Huntress about being different.

    • When "klutzy Cam"'s bomb went off and gas leaked everywhere, surely it would have gone under the door, out the smashed window or through the hole in the wall.

    • Helena follows the bad guy down a school hallway and through a door only a second or two behind him...but when Helena gets to the double doors they are completely closed and motionless. They take several seconds to close, as we can see after Helena goes through them, so how'd they close so fast behind the bad guy?

    • Barbara and Helena send Dinah to watch Barrett at the bar so Reese won't spot Helena...but Reese knows what Dinah looks like too. You'd think Reese the sharp-eyed detective might notice her.

  • QUOTES (15)

    • Helena: (about Jack) You know, for a homicidal maniac bent on wiping out anyone that shows me any interest, he sure is hot. At least he remembers me.
Gibson Kafka: Looks aren't everything, you know. What I lack in the chiseled physique department, I more than make up for with my impressive streak of not killing people.

    • Barbara: Police report that he slipped and broke his neck on a rock. They say the cause of death was an alcohol-related accident.
Helena: Funny, it's probably the cause of his birth too.

    • Reese: Well tell me, Miss Helena Kyle, what have you been up to these past five years?
Helena: Well, I am a bartender by day, and a meta-vigilante patrolling the rooftops of New Gotham by night.
      Reese: You're a bartender, huh?
Helena: Yeah. A really good bartender.
Reese: Yeah, I bet you are.

    • Kafka: He just wanted to be seen. Ironic for a meta-chameleon.

    • Kafka: (Helena's) vocabulary is now as exquisite as her beauty.

    • Cameron: Why won't you love me?
      Helena: Because you kill people...?

    • Helena: Is that even possible?
Kafka: Hey, I remember how many nose hairs my pediatrician had – anything is possible.

    • Helena: I'm cutting you off.
      Kafka: I haven't started.
      Helena: I know.

    • Helena: Hey, that hand goes any closer to where I think it was going, I will twist it off and you will be known as 'Stumpy' for the rest of your natural life.

    • Dinah: Is Helena going to the reunion?
Alfred: Oh, do resist the temptation to rub it in.
      Dinah: Oh, sweet irony.

    • Helena: (to Alfred) How do you do that? Support me and undermine me all in the same sentence?
      Barbara: It's a British thing.

    • Dinah: You have no secret identity! You don't wear glasses, you don't wear a mask.
Barbara: She's kinda got a point.
Helena: I don't wear a mask for combat purposes, alright? They're itchy, they make you sweat...
Barbara: Your mascara runs? (To Dinah) It's a vanity thing.
Helena: I want to look good, is that a crime? I can have two lives without looking like an overgrown trick-or-treater.

    • Leonard: Service with a smile. Brings 'em back every time.
Helena: Lap dancing brings them back every time too. You want me to try that?
Leonard: How would I know? I'm gay

    • Dinah: Why are you a bartender? You're the heir to the Wayne fortune – you're worth millions.
      Alfred: Billions.
      Helena: I have dad issues.

    • Kafka: I always wanted to walk in with a blonde.
      Helena: I'm a brunette.
Kafka: Which brings me to my next question...

  • NOTES (5)

    • German title: "Chamäleon" (= "Chameleon")

    • Despite being billed as a regular, Mia Sara did not appear in this episode.

    • The scene of Barbara and Wade in the street by the flowers was the same scene (taken or redone the same) that was in the original unaired pilot, but did not make the air because the writers decided to begin their relationship, instead of ending it.

    • Gibson suggests that Helena should go blonde for the reunion. This is a nod to the fact that actress Ashley Scott is actually a natural blonde.

    • The name of Helena's bar, "Dark Horse", is presumably an in-joke reference to one of DC's competitors - Dark Horse Comics.
