  • All the kids get into the action! Spoilers involved...

This really is a great episode not only from the perspective of the interaction of the core cast but, also because of the guest stars.

It starts off with Dr Gordon and Amy going off to London for the day and leaving the children in charge, promising that they will be responsible and well behaved. Well, if responsible means smoking, gambling and losing Beauty!!!

There is a memorable guest appearance by John Junkin as a con man, " Teapot" who manages to trick the hapless Albert into enormous debt through gambling and confiscates Beauty as "Security". Poor Albert is beside himself and runs home only to be met halfway by Kevin and Jenny, disgruntled that he has beaten them to taking Beauty for the day. Albert distorts the truth somewhat by telling them that Beauty has been taken and so they set off to capture him back. Albert and Jenny succeed in getting away with Beauty but Kevin is captured in the process and is forced into revealing where he lives and where, ultimatey, " Teapot" can be recompensated by Albert.

As a penultimate ever episode, this one has it all - humour, action and is unusual in so much that it contains all 4 children together. The format of Black Beauty, certainly in season 2, was to pair up the children - for example, you wopuld get episodes with Ned and Jenny together and then episodes with Albert and Kevin together, or any other combinations. Rare though, to feature all 4 - perhaps because of filming/school schedules.

Of course, all turns out well in the end as you would expect for this show but it really is half an hour of pure entertainment.
