Sorry folks but Tank needs to realise that he is OLD and FAT. He needs to grow old gracefully and stop making himself look like a tanker, please replace the t with a w. I enjoy watching the show but please Tank let it go and get on with your life. It is getting a bit pathetic.

One of the better Reality Shows to come down the pike in quite a while.. I'm hooked and look forward to each episode..

Watching the crews as they go through daily trials and tribulations of life on an Oil derrick. I enjoy watching bosses tell it like it is. These guys are a hoot to watch each week. I know I couldn't do this sort of job, My hat is off to the guys who do.. Definately a young mans game with the exception of the Drillers who have truly paid their dues.. I anxiously wait for each episode to arrive on the telly....

this is one of the best shows on tv now. i love wayne. he is a great driller. i wish he was my husbands boss. i live in west texas and the oil field is a way of life around here. its great that finally there is a show out there that shows that. I hope that this show is a permant fixture on the airwaves. I would be devastated if it was cancelled. I got my entire family to start watching this show and they all loved it too. we will be watching to see if this show returns next season with hopefully more episodes.

Good show to watch however, with the "rednecks" and "good ole boys" only showing on each episode it's kind of racist especially when your family is hispanic. We have good friends that work on the rigs and trust me they aren't all "country boys." The shows does show how life on the rigs is for the workers and how life is off the rig. Of course not all the rig workers are "beer drinkers" and "women catchers." Give the hispanics, blacks and other rig workers credit for their hard work on keeping the rigs going. They deserve it as much as the "country boys."

Black Gold is another show from Thom Beers that follows the lives of a group of hard working men that are generally not known or under appreciated. This time it is the men who work the oil fields. Thom Beers is the creator of hits such as Deadliest Catch and Ice Road Truckers. Thom Beers is a genius and should be applauded for showing the world what a great job that some of these workers have to do. Black Gold is good for a few shows and then falls into a dangerous trap. How many times can we watch an oil driller put another piece of pipe together to drill the hole to get to the oil before we get bored? Also Black Gold barely does any character development. However I do have to acknowledge that some is done every now and then, about once a show for maybe 3 or 4 minutes we see the oil men hanging out somewhere doing something together. The first episode it was one of the crews hanging out getting drunk together, then skipping work the next day and all except one (he showed up) being fired. The last episode we saw two oilmen hanging out at Hooters and then at the pool with waitresses from Hooters. While I applaud the work that these people do and am interested in learning how they do it, Black Gold has a serious problem it has to deal with. Repetativeness. Once they have that solved, I think Thom Beers has another solid hit on his hands.

Tonight's show one of the rigs started losing footage and the commentator kept repeating how their drillbit was getting stuck and they were unable to drill farther. My husband nearly busted a gut laughing!!!! There was NO drillbit attached to anything or anywhere near the whole at that time! The crew was running casing NOT DRILLING! If you want this show to go anywhere you guys need to get your facts straight!!!!! Someone who knows what is going on needs to be in charge of the commentary! You goof up tonight was very noticable.....my son even caught it. If you want this show to be taken seriously do a little more research!!

It's no easy task, either: crew members wrestle with giant metal machines and have to keep on the lookout against their own environment-- if you're not careful, a loose chain or gear may backfire and kill you. Despite all the rigors of the job, the people on staff are still like everyone else, and they share jokes and nicknames to break up the tension. Root for new team members, guess whether a project will succeed or not, and learn a lot of interesting facts. This show is one to add to your weekly list.
