Rokuro Okajima ('Rock') is sent on a mission, carrying with him a disk. He is captured by Dutch and Revy who are members of the ship called Black Lagoon. Problems arise for the crew when a skilled mercenary named Captain pursues them for the disk.

Only in Anime could this be made it be way too much money to create something like this on Live Action TV not too mention it probably be crappy. Black Lagoon is a memorable action anime adventure series about this pirate group of men and women who beat to their own drum.

There's lots of action, adult humor, adult dialogue, shots at the corporate culture, and many other things. The production of this thing is top notch like other Animes. The premise in the first episode is that Okajima Rokuro (aka Rock) is a nerdy executive taking hostage by the Black Lagoon. He carries a special disk which has a lot of top secret information. Through the series, Okajima undergoes a transformation from his dead end life to this one of being a pirate.

There's a lot of laughs here but a lot of drama as well. The writers on this show make the situation as realistic as they can including shots at the corporate world. Okajima's bosses at Akashi Industries don't give a crap about him, they merely see his situation as a nuisance to the real important matter of maintaining their trade secrets which gets exposed here.

The pirates who are Benny, Levi, Dutch starr off as the usual bonehead thugs you'd see in a million crime movies but eventually they do warmup to Rock. They eventually do see him a guy with a smart head on his shoulders.

The series takes on a lot of different turns and it's funny to see how the team manages to get themselves out of one situation to the next.moreless
