      • Goof: The Universal Newsreel copyright at the episode's beginning is 1939 (MCMXXXIX). This date is incorrect based upon the time frame of the series. It should be 1943. Major Boyington assumed command in August 1943 of VMF-214. The VMF-214 second combat tour ended on January 8, 1944. This occurred five days after the Japanese shot down and captured Major Boyington.
