Goof: During the 1st attack with the Japanese, Major Boyington's Plane is labeled "Major Boyington". After returning from the fuel tank test flight, the Plane says "Maj. Boyington"
-
Goof: During the first attack with the Japanese, just after the 1st Japanese plane is shot down, we see that Boyington's name is reversed for a second.
-
Goof: When the Duck takes off under fire, the close up shots show the canopy closed, while the long distance shots show the canopy open.
-
Goof: After testing the external fuel tank idea, Major Boyington begins to land (bringing his wheels down). We again see not the fuel tanks he took off with, but 500 lbs bombs used in the series (fins are visible for a moment).
-
Goof: After Major Boyington takes off with the external fuel tanks, there is a close up of him flying. Throughout this episode there have been fourteen Japanese flags on his plane (two rows of five and a third row of four flags). In this scene, there are two rows of three flags, instead of the two rows of five. He is miss eight Japanese flags in this close up.
-
Goof: The external fuel tanks used later in the episode are on his plane, while he taxi after his (first) trip to see General Moore. These tanks are not on his plane, when he takes off from Espritos Marcos Island (Allied Command Rear Area). They are not on his plane when he lands on Vella La Cava Island (214 Squadron H.Q).
-
Goof: The Universal Newsreel copyright at the episode's beginning is 1939 (MCMXXXIX). This date is incorrect based upon the time frame of the series. It should be 1943 as VMF-214 flew under the command of Major Boyington from August 1943 to January 1944.

Greg keeps telling the guys I only need four of you. Well, you hear the word four but if you watch his lips he is saying five. And once or twice when he says "I only need four of you"....he holds up five fingers and you see his lips say five. I'm sure the script said 5, but it may have been to expensive to shoot new aerial footage and they already had the footage from Anyone for Suicide with 5 planes total....so they made a little post production magic and....voila.
