    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (3)

      • Goof: In the newsreel footage the two star general giving Major Boyington his medal / commendation is out of uniform.  His cover (head gear) is missing the golden oak leaf embellishments (scrambled eggs) found all the bills of all Marine Corps command rank officers (Major and higher).  (The Army and Marines sets the rank of O-4 Major and higher, while the Navy sets the rank as O-5 Commander.)

      • Goof:  At the end of the episode, there is a newsreel announcing VMF-214 as the top combat squadron of the Pacific theater.  The intro graphics names the squadron as YMF-214, not VMF-214.  The announcer uses the correct unit name.

      • Goof: The Universal Newsreel copyright is 1939 (MCMXXXIX) when the year has to be at least 1942 if not the more likely 1943.
