| Why do people dislike Goodbyee just cause it had a sad ending? Thats why its one of my favourites, I even liked Baldricks moving speech was great. |
I agree. It was so poignant and brilliantly summed up the futility that was WWI. The way it just faded to the poppies was so simple and moving. I can't think of a better ending for a series set during a war in which millions died.
Series 1: The Black Seal
Series 2: Beer
Series 3: Ink and Incapibility
Series 4: General Hospital

I really agree, i think that is one of the best episodes of a tv show of all time. The poppies make me cry. I just love the way it segues from being this comedy show and then suddenly when they have to 'go over the top' they are real men with a terrible fate before them. The contrast between humour and tragic reality just makes it so poignant and real and it was such amazing writing. My grandad died in that war and i've seen war docs and stuff but that really hit it home for me, what it must have been like. One day you're joking in our very English way of laughing the face of death and then the next minute its for real and you have to have all your resolve. I thought it was totally believable that these characters who were often shown as cowardly and cunning would just be like 'lets do this' in the face of it. It was totally excellent but yeah, soooo sad ![]()
