I think Blackadder II, the transformation from bufoon to sarcastic, cynical, witty and cunning Blackadder (not that the first series wasn't also great!).

This, in my opinion, is the order from best to not as good, because they are all great.

1.Blackadder the Third
2.Blackadder II
3.Blackadder Goes Forth
4.The Blackadder

The Third is definately my favourite, mainly for Hugh Laurie's Prince George. They're all good though, for different reasons.

My fave is Blackadder the Third
but Edmund was strangely sexy in II - all the black & the earring - that was a good look for him.
Forth has the poignant final epi though - I love how that episode has as much impact as a real war docu n i always cry at the scene of the poppies.

Same here, The first season has some episodes that are really boring

I have to agree with Blackadder II. Rowan is strangely attractive in that series, Miranda Richardson is superb and hilarious, Tony and Tim are also really funny, Stephen is always great to have around and I adore every episode in that series. Of course, I also have a fondness for the Tudor period. I also love Lord Flashheart and Hugh Laurie as the German Prince. When he did the impression of Mary Queen of Scots, that killed me.

I can't believe people actually voted for the first series, but I suppose everyone has different tastes.
The first series just didn't work in as much ways as the next 3. Baldrick being smart, Blackadder being dumb. Does Not Work.
It was really hard to choose between 'Blackadder II' and 'Blackadder the Third' because they are both perfect and flawless, but I voted for 'The Third.
Blackadder Goes Forth is still excellent, but I didn't like the whole 'war' setting anywhere nere as much as II and III.
It is so sad looking at Atkinson today (Mr. Bean); Dear oh dear. Especially when he was so great in Blackadder
