Other than the scene in the opening credits, this is the only episode in which the two halves of the Powerstar are united!

Writer Marc Scott Zicree named the villain in this episode, Kasray, after his writer friend, Richard Kadray

Overlord's Powersword was orginally called the Moonsword.

John Blackstar's origin is never shown onscreen, except in the opening credits. In the original script for this episode, he wistfully wonders which of the stars in the sky is his home, but the scene was cut.

According to producer Lou Scheimer in the DVD-commentary the Trobbits were supposed to be blue in color. That was changed to pinkish color due to being to similar with the Smurfs.
