Final scene question

    Does anyone know if the final scene of the series was planned as the end or was it a cliffhanger that never got resolved because the series got axed?

    It was planned, although as with the previous seasons, enough was left open so that a fifth series could have been commissioned (i.e, the characters might have been just wounded, etc.). There have been plans for thirty years but nothing has ever really come of it.
